Good guess Ed. It's actually Robbie as a senior. I aged him on what looks like a Tmobile site http://212.100.224.91

this is the original image [shudder]

Thanks for that *grumble*

Almost gave me an aneurism and surely resulted in the neighbourhood being woken up. I was gobsmacked. :(

Well dun just sit there moaning at/with us. Get on the line to SBS.

If you wanna be nice about it you could email a "thanks for the great coverage and don't stuff it up again" to comments@sbs.com.au

[edit] SBS, like all networks, uses viewer feedback as an aid to programming decision-making, so let them know that you are watching the coverage. You wouldn't want them to scale back the coverage next year, would you?

Hi,
Thanks for a great coverage
Could you please take more care when you take a break i.e. not just before a sprint to the finish involving a group with an Australian in it a la last night
Not sure I’m too keen on the whole Gabrielle Gate thing
All up though love your work

Regards,

Its about as appropriate a nun in a strip joint. :D

Thylacine 07-15-05 01:38 AM

Coverage was very, very average last night. However, now I desperately want to move to Digne Les Bains and eat fromage and quaff Beaujolais.

Anyway, another week, another ten million dollars. Tough ride today, and the only thing that will make me feel better is a couple of Coopers Vintage and some hot chippies......

Feels a bit strange to reply to myself, but just got this from our friends at SBS

Dear Viewer,

During last night's broadcast of the Tour de France coverage some crucial moments at the end of Stage 12, including the finishing sprints of some of the contestants for the green jersey, were obscured by a commercial break.

SBS's late night Tour de France coverage is a live broadcast. As the course of the race is unpredictable and it has no natural breaks, the appropriate placement of commercial breaks during the race relies on the skills of the operators making a call on where they will cause least disruption.

Unfortunately on this occasion it is clear those skills failed. SBS apologises unreservedly and will make every effort to ensure that such a mishap does not happen again.

Yeah me too. I couldn't believe it when just as the sprint started to hot up they cut to an ad break. Good on yu guys.

I'll send an email and try to keep it civil. I'm loving the coverage, nonetheless.

Follow-up is a good thing: now we all have closure. :D

You reckon SBS must have got a few emails about the ad break.

jock 07-15-05 06:20 AM

Hey berny, do you know a guy called Peter from Waratahs, rides a blue GIOS? Nice guy. He was happy to stroll around Homebush with me the other night just yakkin when he probably would have preferred to be on the gas. When I started warm down he blasted off into the night like he was late for his first shag. Remind me to find his wheel when I start racing Eastern Creek, he's a strong lad :)

climbo 07-15-05 09:54 PM

you missed a great track night guys, good fast racing, totally shagged today. I had one slow speed crash/slide down the banking, won a race, got killed in the wheelrace by A grade. All good fun though :)

Robbie and Stuey to now fight it out for green, should be good to watch.

Oh, you're still alive then? Great! :p

I dunno about you guys, but I tell ya what, I'm begining to feel the post hard ride effects in my knees these days. Yesterday I stormed home from Mordialloc with a couple of guys from Bike Now, trying to hang on to the best part of 40kph to catch a couple of blokes, and now my knees just have this dull ache that won't go away.

It's bloody annoying, and yes, I am soft. :)

What's even more annoying is a creak from the BB area of my bike every time I get out of the saddle. I hate noisy bikes! Only just started doing it too. Grrrrr.

Possibly Peter Mangioni. 'B' grader. I don't know him well, a bit out of my league but there are plenty of good riders at Waratahs. When you comming down?
This might help;

I'm still looking for a bike. I have the offer of the same one I rode in our club cham'ps but I suffered for a week after that, due I think, to the different geometry; or maybe it's just the intensity of track.
I'm not sure how it would effect my Sunday racing either. Probably no more than the regular Saturday morning 50k run I do each week with a bunch of younger tirathletes. I'd probably not be able to do all three
Not enough hours/days/weeks..................................... or energy. :p

P.S. I've been bumped to 'D' grade  :( :o :)

So, anyone know what happened to that CSC doco last night at 8:30 on SBS?

It was obviously rescheduled.

Anyone know when it's gunna be on?

not heard of it or when it might be on. Is it Tour related or just cycling generally?

climbo 07-17-05 04:20 PM

anyone see last night's stage? I taped the wrong friggin channel on the VCR, supposedly Hincapie mooched quite a bit but you can hardly blame him for not attacking, he's not a known climber, or at least he wasn't.

Yep, stayed up and watched it....

Hinacapie placed himself in the 14 man break then tootled  along waiting for the catch from the leaders... when it wasnt going to happen he took off on the last col.... nice work if you can get it!

Any doubters on who will take the big prize?

Yellow
1. Armstrong
2. Basso
3. Ullrich
(I can see rasmussen losing big time to Jan in the individual TT.)

Green
Robbie

White
Popyvych

Polka
Rasmussen

climbo 07-17-05 05:03 PM

you have it about right, Hincapie rode smart then, no pressure on him to win really.

jock 07-17-05 05:33 PM

I'd go more for Stu over Hush and Mr Cuddles.

Stages 20 and 21 have some little hills that Stuey might be just able to conquer if he's in the lead group/breakaway. No points for any of them on Stage 22 ITT. That leaves just 3 intermediates that are within these guys reach, plus the Champs.

So Stu doesn't get big points on Stgs 20 and/or 21 then it will be Hushovd.

A fine point you raise, however RMC seems to have the wood on the other 2 in the sprint.... I predict 1'st in the Champs' and maybe 1 other transition stage.... should be enough based on absolutley no knowledge of the points system :p
