Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

At the end of the day I can remain calm because I've seen it all. I've been riding in dense traffic all my life and nothing gives me a cack like the antics of certain car drivers. And I can usually tell when things are going to go wrong before they end in tragedy, and that means I've got time to arrange a 'soft' impact or avoid trouble altogether.

Cadel took the group first place in front of LA who was pi$$ed because he had done most of the work.

Now that's funny Stupid texan prima-donna.

As if it counts for anything. Cadel was prolly just seeing how he feels at the end of his first TDF.

More antics from the tin can lords.

Riding with a large bunch this morning, a nice guy emptied a chocolate milk over one rider then a little later threw a sandwich at the head of the group. Funnay.

It's got to be the full moon...

Luke Roberts has posted a half-reasonable time, leads after roughly half the field finished. He covered the undulating 55.5km course at an average speed of 44.067km/h.

Yeah sorry, I fell asleep in all the excitement.

Clown of the Stage Award goes to Rassmussen. Spectacular self-destruction.

Poor Rassmussen, crashed, flatted, chainged bikes............twice, crashed again eeeeooooo Before his next TT, he's going for a calendar in place his computer.

I'll be sorry to see LA go. He's been an awesome champion. Yes things have been a little predictable but I'm happy to put up with that to witness the feats of one of the greatest riders of all time during my life. Probably second only to EM.
The guy's an amazing athlete and a legend in his own lifetime.

From now on we'll get to see who from the also-rans can make it interesting. HO HUM!

Friggin SBS!

I stoically sit in front of the teev for the umpteenth night to watch the climax of the race and what do they do? Put the bloody cricket on just when things were hotting up on the champs.

Thankfully a rain interruption saw us back with the race for the last two laps. But then they cut straight back to the cricket without so much as a replay of post stage wrap up. Not even a clarification of the top 20 placings.

My spleen needs to be vented, and I'm inclined to walk across the road to SBS and do it in person.

And besides, I know that deep down you really love LA just like your identical twin brother does. And Thylacine.

Yep. Average.

BTW, I'm only in the office physically today. I'm really at home asleep with the electric blanket on.

God I'm stuffed...

any team must be better than T-Mobile for Vino. Rogers was rumoured to be going to T-Mobile, nothing confirmed...

It might suit Rogers to team up with Ullrich for 2006 before stepping up to the plate for 2007. Who knows.

And for anyone wanting to chide SBS over their appaling coverage last night you could do worse than to send an email to comments@sbs.com.au and copy each of the major sponsors at:

https://www.mastercard.com/au/general/contact_us.html
https://www.avanti.co.nz/contact.asp
hodgie@skins.com.au

Unfortunately Renault only like to be contacted by phone on 1800 009 008

The sponsors do listen tho. Here's an almost instantaneous response from Avanti NZ:

" My thoughts exactly Jock.

Our marketing department will be no doubt be in contact with SBS over
this matter.

Kind regards,
Jordan."
