Vector Power Meter!
Have any of you guys seen this yet? It looks pretty slick. Not to mention it weighs very little, and is easy to take on and off. I think it's a pretty good idea, plus I am ahead of the game since I already have Speedplay Zeros.

Are all announced-but-not-yet-shipped products vaporware then? How about those 2011 cars that are starting to be announced? All vaporware? Sheesh.
If March comes and goes without this shipping, then maybe you've got a point.
But for now, you're just jealous that it makes your new schwag old-and-busted.

If my some miracle this stupid product ever comes to market, and IF it works and doesn't turn out to be a total friggin techno nightmare, and IF it ever winds up on your stupid friggin fred bike, THEN you can get your friggin fred panties damp over this alleged gizmo.
Until then, it is total, absolute, screaming, friggin VAPORWARE.

Let's hope they successfully market this product and that it lives up to the hype and anticipation. It would put serious downward price pressure on everybody else. Nothing wrong with that. These PM's are over priced.

They are on Twitter if you want to keep up with what's going on with them:

If this works as hoped it wouldn't necessarily replace Ptap or SRM. My guess is it would really put the hurt on SRM more than Saris, but it would be a serious challenge to both of them in a very limited market that's hungry for a more reasonably priced solution. The projected price of Vector is $1,000 without a head unit, which would then add $400+, So it's not cheap, about the same price as a Powertap hub, but without the weight penalty, and with the major advantage of being able to use any wheel set.
IF the Vector lives up to expectations, who would want to lay out $3000+ for a crank set based unit that's much harder to transfer between bicycles and offers no real major advantages? SRM would have to cut their prices substantially. Big 'IF'.
If I were SRM and Saris I'd be wary of this, but it was inevitable, they have ridden this limited technology wave and charged high prices for several years, it couldn't last forever, even in high end cycling products.

Sheesh lighten up dude. You know what they say about opinions. Whats so stupid about this? Seems like a promising innovation under prototype / development. March comes around and the deadlines slip, then it'd certainly qualify as vaporware. Till then, inaccurate assessment or rather, pronouncement.

Any product that is hyped before it is readily available for purchase is total, utter, screaming, friggin
V A P O R W A R E.
It is incredibly annoying, maddening, and of course necessary for companies to build anticipation for future products. But never, EVER mistake vaporware for reality.

SRM's are golden in any weather condition. They don't cut out like powertaps in the cold, and the saturn still hasn't been proven in long term tests. I have no doubt it'll get there, but right now it still has a lot to prove in terms of reliability. The vector will have to do this as well.
Quarqs are still nice though, but long term proven they are not.

Seems like it's doomed to suffer the same fate as Ergomo since it seems to only measure power output on one side. Cool idea if they make it work, though.

Stop misusing that term! A product isn't vaporware until it's been promised for a long time and consistently misses deadlines, and never shows up.

It's vaporware until an actual working product exists.

Is there a fully functional prototype of this product or not?
