Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

winter masks?

Can anyone here recommend a mask that is not part of a full balaclava? My cold induced asthma kicks in once the temps hit ~60 degrees, so I need something to warm the air before it hits my lungs. Unfortunately, while ~60 degrees is too cold for my lungs, it is not too cold for the rest of me. I'd rather not wear a full balaclava, because anything that is thick enough to warm the air would likely result in sweating profusely.

Pull the top of your balaclava down to your neck. Leave the mask portion loosely over your nose/mouth. It allows the air to be warmer without restricting the flow. Works for me. I don't need to warm the air until its about 30 degrees out though.

This thing is meant to work in different "modes." I've got one and it works nicely. I keep it covering my whole head, and it actually breaths pretty well.

Neck gaitor works for me. Pull up or down as needed.

For example: https://www.rei.com/search?cat=40003698

What about something like this:

I've been thinking about trying one to help out with my allergies.

I have something like this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...CFHQ36XKPYRA0Q

I'd wear a balaclava but having no nose opening means that the warm air coming out of my lungs fogs up my (prescription) glasses. This kind of mask does the trick.

Get some over-the-glasses ski goggles. Put clear lenses in them. Problem solved.

The Masque or the Neofleece Combo Scarf. I'm considering getting them because it looks like they'll do a much better job of directing my breath out and down than my current balaclava, which should reduce fogging.

I researched this recently: there's a type of gunk that you can smear on glasses to stop misting. It's called "Cat Crap" (really) and you can buy from places like REI.

Bikes: Too darn many.. latest count is 11

I have one of these and it works pretty well. I use this and a smartwool beanie when it's in the 20 degree range..

I've read FogTech is dramatically better than Cat Crap. I've used FogTech only once or twice myself but it's worked.

Apparently yes. But you need to have the hair net to really pull it off.

more people would have recommended a balaclava had the OP not specified that (s)he doesn't want a balaclava.

The models at the bottom of the page appear to be likely candidates. Giving them a call to discuss your needs is probably a good idea. They might even make something custom.
