Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

YEAH more snow this morning. I can deal with the cold to a point but not the icy roads. But several hours at 25 degrees and 20+mph winds is pretty much unbearable for me. After 2 hrs my feet are frozen and I use the foot warmers. Tomorrow isn't looking good either, hopefully sunday I can get out for a nice long ride.

700x35 knobby Kenda cross tires. They go a long way towards keeping me off the trainer.

We are looking at a high of 14 F tomorrow with sub zero Sunday morn. The roads are currently covered with snow.....on and on. Ohio does have its moments.

studded tires are pretty darn fun. I had a great time riding today.

oh, btw, that video was pretty dumb, but seeing you cycling saved it!

I had a two hour delay for school for 1 inch of snow.

I hear you loud and clear. The weather in Maryland sucks just as much, if not more. Last night we got three more inches of snow and it has been non-stop frigid wind for days on end. This weekend high temps will not get past 30 degrees F.

On the bright side, I've started moving through my Netflix "Instant" queue, watching movies on the laptop while on the rollers.

Starship Troopers today!

There wasn't any snow on the ground here when you originally posted this. Now there is, it hasn't stopped for three days now. So I'll echo your comment:

STUPID SNOW!

But the kids and I did have a good time playing in it with four wheelers and saucer sleds!

My driveway this morning:

Was pretty cold but the roads weren't that bad. Met two buddies and we rode for 2 1/5 hrs.

WCroadie, I went out with two fellow-WCCC riders and also did a 2 1/2 hour ride today. Only a few icy spots...but it was cold. Gradual warming trend this coming week!

By 'not that bad' I hope you mean they were a lot better than your driveway. That looks slick. Great looking bike by the way.

We ran into Viktor on 842 as he was heading home, were you with him earlier by any chance? Yes almost 50 on Friday but the temps dip for the weekend, still I will take a high of 40 over 25 any day.

Absolutely, the roads were snow and ice free for the most part, my driveway melted later in the day as the hit it. Thanks, that's my beater bike as the madone hangs on the wall until the weather gets better.

I was with Viktor on Sunday, I couldn't ride on saturday since I had to work. BTW you are welcome to join our little 50 mile show/go ride tomorrow (wednesday) if you are interested.

Nice, what tires are you riding? I can't do that in my conti 4000s.

Not such a stupid video, I'm riding 700x35 Kenda slicks and there is no way I can get that type of speed in snow. I haven't been dumped (yet), but the back wheel gets very, very squirrelly when riding on ice or snow. I went with slicks for my first year of winter commuting because I was worried about snow building up in the treads, it appears I made an incorrect decision.
