Budget Cycle Computer?

Notices
Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Budget Cycle Computer?

Hello all.

I've just started to get into road riding recently... I've rode a mountain bike for about 5 years, and the past 2 years I've been commuting on a fixie that I built, now it's time for road bikes.

I picked up a Trek 1.2 the other day (I'm loving it so far! It's weird to be able to stop pedaling at some points, I'm so used to my fixie) Ha!

But I decided I would throw a cycle computer on there, I don't need something way over the top, but I don't want something that's not going have features that are useful, and I'll just end up upgrading in a few months.

I saw this tonight, at a local shop, https://www.amazon.com/BC1606L-CADENC.../dp/B000MRBPEG

and it was actually 2x that price!

It looked pretty nice, but I'm just wondering if you guys could throw me some other recommendations, in the up to ~$100 range.

Thanks

IMHO, Sigma computers are crap. But if you really want that model, it's $29.99 at Nashbar.

This is the computer I have and it's wireless.

I agree. I have the regular double wireless and I love it.

If you want to go for something less expensive, stick with the Cateye brand. I have a cheapo Vetta on my cross bike and I hate that thing.

just go to your nearest bike shop or favorite online seller and buy one for $20. They are commodities in that price range, imho. Use it for a season then spend more money on one that has the specific features you've decided you want.

Another happy Cateye DW user here, $64 at Nashbar. Does the remote switch come with the computer? I was under the impression it doesn't but they sent me one anyway...

I like my Cateye computer... They also have great customer service.

I recently bought a cheap Polar computer with an altimeter for $15 on Bonktown. I'd say it was worth it.
