The Mets went 9-1 on their just completed home stand. They've only done that twice before in their entire history. And now they're in sole possession of first place in the NL East. We'll see if that survives a 3 game trip to Philadelphia this weekend. Hey, beats losing every friggin night. I'm a Mets fan, I take what this crappy team gives me.

Oh, by the way, the little inventors are starting to patent their whacky inventions again. That's the surest sign the recession really is ending.

I know you can't disclose what they are, but on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being not wacky at all, and 10 being super wacky - what are they like?

A friend of my boss was hit by a car at 55+ mph in Georgia a few days ago. 8 broken ribs and a fractured spinal something or other. He's breathing on his own, but in ICU.

He's a nice guy I've met a few times in the shop, was doing a tour up the east coast back home to VA.

Oh, to be a lifelong Vikes fan - you KNOW that every 10 years or so, the Vikes will be a very, very serious threat to win it all... despite history, they'll lull you in to thinking that it really will be different this time... and as soon as you wholeheartedly believe, they hit you in the gut, waiting briefly for slack-jawed stupor to take hold, so they can reach down your maw and pull out your no-longer-beating heart and dash it against the sharp, bitter rocks of broken dreams.
