I'd say... maybe do some easy miles next. |

Well I just got home from the hospital. That was fun. Started with headache, blurred vision, left hand numbness, and finally top of throat numbness. ER was.. exciting? CT scan and blood tests, IVs suck. Neurologist appointment next week.

Not a stroke, most likely just a "complex migraine". I freaked the F out though when I saw stroke symptoms. Called 911, mom wasn't home. I'm 16. I need to be at least like, what, 95 before I have a stroke. My first thought was "oh god, I might be having a stroke. I better be able to race July 10"

I would guess that in rare instances anybody can have a stroke. When it's neurological, don't F around. You did the right thing.

is this migraine attack a regular thing? if so you might be able to work out what triggers it. i knew a girl who got it by eating chocolate which was rather unfortunate since chocolate is tasty stuff.

This was the worst one so far - the pain was mild, but the overall thing was what they called a "complex migraine". I've never had more than just head pain + nausea before. |
thank goodness it isn't chocolate. that would be a severe blow.

Speaking of chocolate, my local Staples sent me a box of Brownie Points, Inc. brownies today, with a little sales pitch. I guess they're trying to bribe me into using them more for office supplies.
I already buy all my supplies at their store, but the profit on the volume of office supplies I buy wouldn't even pay for a Biro. The brownies are very tasty just the same. |

there are a lot of migraine meds, If one doesn't work just move onto the next. They all work differently for different people.
On a serious note I know you are excited about the MA race (I have been stalking the junior thread) if something like that happens just pull out! PS I also have a race on the 10th It will be my 10th cat 5 race (pending no disasters). I am pretty excited about that. |

I have excedrine which I usually use, and prescription immitrex ($20/pill) which I use very sparingly due to cost. How the eff do you do these? sqrt(45)/sqrt(5)? The answer is 4sqrt(5) And 5sqrt(3)-9sqrt(3)+sqrt(25)? The answer is -sqrt(3) |
Figured out the math :).
Math final tomorrow, we get out at 10:30 am. School starts at 8:35. :thumb: |
Ok: sqrt(3x-2)=x
Answer is 2, 1 |

The problem is that when you experience new symptoms for something you just don't know what to compare it to. And it only takes being wrong once to really put an end to your racing plans. Did they say how having a migraine causes your arm to go numb? I'm unfamiliar with that. |

Sadly people much younger than 95 have strokes. It's probably very rare at 16 though.

Did they say how having a migraine causes your arm to go numb? I'm unfamiliar with that. They said it does that because the blood vessel that was pinched causing the migraine was linked to stuff on the left side of my body. That being said, said vessel is on the right side of my brain which controls the left side. That leads to Left hand numbness and left tongue numbness. Complex migraine. |

I know, they just didn't really take it as a possibility since vital signs were fine.

Hey coasting, our travel itinerary includes a rather unfortunate 7 hour layover @ Heathrow on August 17. Should I have a Pcad Book Signing for my UK Fans?
Oh wait, I don't have a book. |
