Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I thought about another group ride this evening, but the combination of sleep deficiency + 98F leads me to think a wussy 20 miler might be more suitable.

Has he yet to lay down the official challenge with Doomstock 2010, the group ride, the TT climbing event and the BBQ yet? That would certainly answer the question of just who is Fred, and who is not Fred.

i think i worked out why road nazis yell so much. years ago when i first got my driver's licence, someone told me he was going to give me some sound advice that i should never forget. he said that if ever i am involved in a car accident, no matter how it happened and what i did right or wrong, the first thing i should do when i get out the car is to yell and scream abuse at the other driver. this way they immediately get intimidated and subconsciously accept they are in the wrong.

this i think is why the road nazis yell. to divert attention from their own self doubts. how's that for a theroy?

And by "he" I meant you.

by the way, the only car accident i have been involved in was me rear ending a little car driven by an ancient old lady who could barely walk. i didn't have it in me to scream at her and i ended up paying for all the damage.

Hey coasting,

Are you ready for your century? Is it possible to ride 100 in England without climbing a hill?

The temperature has plummeted to 92F.

Time for a ride.

Car's loaded up with camping gear and bike. I did a gentle ride this evening and tweaked the saddle height. Perfect preparation. I'm feeling optimistic.

It's down to 79º here. The Big Heat has broken on the rocks of Mt. Doom.

It never lasts long here.

your east coast heat wave made the news here. anyone would think it was some kind of major disaster.
