Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Rarely have I witnessed a more preposterous exercise in ego-centric blather about nothing that exceeds the stupid Lebron Circus today. Good grief.

Maybe he's in a Total Ahole Contest with my next door neighbor. But Lebron can't possibly win that one. Miami. That's perfect. But not far enough away from NY. Hawaii would have been better.

It momentarily got better when he announced his mommy told him what to do.

Stay as close to the front as you possibly can at all times. When the pack slows down, move up as much as you can. That's critical for many reasons, mostly to avoid crashes and to avoid getting shelled. Plus any actual racing happens at the front, not at the back. At the whistle, try to slot into the first 10 places and stay there for the entire race. That should be the goal.

That being said, you are totally effed.

But don't be nervous. At the end of the day it's just another fast group ride with a bunch of over testosterone juiced crash prone morons.

There appears to be a 2010 Zipp 404 full carbon clincher.

That's just lustful.

Camping gear? Huh?

Actually, if I was feeling really frisky and adventurous it would not be a bad idea to pitch a tent on the Blue Ridge Parkway and get a couple nice rides in some weekend.

But that's too much work.

So what's your goal? Are you going to hook up with a nice paceline and shoot for five hours?

Heh heh - it is odd. Bought the pedals/shoes online about three weeks ago, first pair were a size too small, so they had to be shipped back and exchanged. Finally received the replacements last night. In the interim, I fell in to a PowerTap Pro (wired, couple years old) - I didn't buy it, a client gave it to me. He had replaced it with an ANT+ unit, and didn't want to go through the hassle of selling it. It's laced to an Open Pro rim and he left the Dura Ace cassette on there, too. Not bad, for free.

if i find it's not too unpleasant, i might venture further afield on other weedends. i'm getting a bit bored of the same old routes from home.

5 hours? sure. that's what I'll report back with.

if you have nice scenic places on your doorstep, it is crminally negligent of you to not go ride there and take some nic photos for the BF masses.
