Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Not exactly. By the way, riding with an iPod is very dangerous.

Regardless, everybody beneath the UCI level sucks at cycling, it's only a matter of degree.

Wow, even after I fix your typos, I'm still lost. I was just pointing out to pCad how happy you look.

No kidding. The rest of us just accept where we're at more easily than you and do a lot less hand wringing in the process.

I'm not that fast, nor do I think I am. But, no, pcad isn't ever 'there.'

gsteinb's first-hand testimony is causing me to reassess my view of Pcad's cycling ability.

What, from much faster than you to just quite a bit faster?

I'm only here for the hand wringing. The important stuff happens out on the road.

Well, important cycling-related stuff. Which is to say, nothing really very important.

It doesn't take much more than getting out off the sunday fredly world championship ride to know that even the best racers win at a rate roughly equivalent to a sub par major league hitter, and with each step out of one's local fish pond there's usually going to be someone faster on any given day. Once you get to regional races that's pretty much a given, and it gets worse with every category upgrade.
