I've loved all my Corollas, but they were all 86-92 models. Two were called Corollas, one was called a Chevy Nova and one was called a Geo Prizm.
I frequently consider picking up a Vibe. |

Toyota better figure this out in the next 30-60 days or it will devastate them. Hell, I was all set to buy a Prius. Not now. |
you're in good company here.

And here is why I won't buy a Toyota or Lexus until they figure this out. Because there is NO FRIGGIN CHANCE that this issue is not related to the electronic throttle given the way some of these cars have behaved. I believe Toyota when they say they can't replicate or find the problem. But cars do simply not accelerate to 100+ mph with the transmission in reverse, the emergency brake engaged and the brakes fully deployed, in a surging and erratic manner, without a stuck fly by wire throttle. In several cases this behavior has also been accompanied by the cruise control light coming on ALL BY ITSELF.

"So I was riding my bike up a 15% gradient and the Di2 shifted itself into the big ring, the garmin started flashing and the powertap went into reverse and I got dropped." Not me, f the machines, I can get dropped without any help. |

no problems at all with my Prius. had it for over 3 years. Now I get pissed if I get a tank under 50 mpg. the "fix" for the minor brake issue on the 2010 is a 6 minute software upgrade. No acceleration issue with the Prius. check out priuschat.com if you have any questions, or PM me and I'll help if I can.
And then there are the ones that are friggin DEAD. Let's hope they figure this out, this could have happened to any major car manufacturer. It was precisely the fear of such incidents that kept fly by wire throttles out of cars until very recently. Toyota is going to install emergency brake over ride systems in most of its models for 2011, but finding the problem and eliminating it would be much better. |

I had a '79 Corolla. Paid $150.00 for it. It had duct tape for the driver's side floor...before I added the wall to wall duct tape I could watch the road for a great "floor's eye view". It also consumed 4 bottles of "stop leak" to seal the head gasket and stop it spewing white smoke as I drove.
Drove it for a year before I put a sign on it "free" and some kid drove it away... Today I wouldn't touch a Toyota... |
MTB with knobbies today, (5) 8-10 minute LT intervals (170 HR) in the slush/feezing drizzle.
Man that ride is going to SUCK. Look boys, we're friggin buried already here, and there's another 1-2' of snow coming. This 6" that fell last night was like cement, I spent 20 minutes getting Mrs. Pcad out of the driveway this AM. That snow fell on top of the 8-12" left over from previous storms. By the time this is over we'll have 2-3' of snow in the yard. It's piling up. It's apocalyptic. But rideable. |
