Man that ride is going to SUCK.

Look boys, we're friggin buried already here, and there's another 1-2' of snow coming. This 6" that fell last night was like cement, I spent 20 minutes getting Mrs. Pcad out of the driveway this AM. That snow fell on top of the 8-12" left over from previous storms. By the time this is over we'll have 2-3' of snow in the yard. It's piling up. It's apocalyptic.

But rideable.

When do you have time for work?

I finished up @ 7:30PM last night. I was at my desk @ 7:30AM. I did not ride yesterday.

Today. But today I ride outside. I may not be able to do that again until Sat or Sun.

Next week looks promising so I'm hoping the sun and 40 degree temperatures will become the standard now.

Grumpy McTrumpy 02-24-10 09:22 AM

they are threatening us with another foot of snow tomorrow

season total stands around 60"

I think we should wear clothes like that. America eats a lot of grease though.

patentcad 02-24-10 01:28 PM

I was right. That ride DID suck.

yes, mid to high 40's at this time of year makes for some really nice after work rides.

Cycleops Fluid 2 is very nice, easy set-up, very easy to attach/detach the bike, very natural feel compared to any other trainer I used.

Trainers suck, but this is so much better than the units I've had in the past it's far easier to use. I'll be doing 75-90 mins. of moderate tempo on it tomorrow AM. With a trainer like this and a Powertap you're kind of all set up for (cringe) indoor training sessions.

Hey, not for nothing, but it was no bargain out there on the MTB today. What a mess. But I still love riding outdoors. Great workout on today's ride.

I think you spend more time bull#@##@# on this forum than you ever do riding. Let's push this turd to 1000.

Nobody cares what you think kid.

cia dog 02-24-10 08:30 PM

I'm willing to try for a 1000. The cyclops fluid 2 is a very good trainer, I've had mine now for 6 years and it still works great, it gets used mostly in the winter though and very little in the spring, summer and fall. The only problem I have with this trainer is that it's booooooriiiing. If you do get one make sure you get a fan to blow towards you so you don't overheat.

i am unfamiliar with non-professional bike racing, is it common for you (or others) to bring a trainer to races to warm up prior to the race?

I just like to pedal but go nowhere.

patentcad 02-24-10 09:07 PM

The only thing I used my old trainer for was warming up at TT's. The Saris appears to be more useable.

Pcad
I'm amazed you were out in that. I did the front street in 6" during the last storm. Straight was fine but any turn was met with faceplants. I have a c'ops mag trainer but it doesn't have enough resistance to stand. Does the fluid?

Less than 30 replies to go.
Can we shut it down once we get to 1000?
There are other pressing threads that require our attention. Some guy actually rode a CF bike that didn't explode and another poster wants to know about R-Sys wheels that will explode.

Roads here were wet, temps were warm (pushing 40ºF), sloppy, but safe to ride. I took the MTB out mainly because I didn't want to muck up the road bikes in the slop. Also, doing intervals on a knobby tired MTB isn't a bad thing to do, kind of like putting a donut on the bat in the batting circle. The roads are far dicier after a snowfall when it's 15ºF and the snow hasn't all melted.

I'm reasonably confident the fluid trainer will give you plenty of resistance to stand on the pedals.

It all detonates. It's only a matter of when, and how.

The Blizzard of '010 has commenced. Pcaddette and I have floor seats @ the Garden for John Mayer @ 8PM. That should make for an interesting drive, eh?
