Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Is your avatar a play on that saying about the pile of women, or is it art, or something else?

Also, I know you probably wouldn't say so, but I think it takes big ones to do what you do. It's appreciated.
My position in the navy, the rescue swimmer part was my original enlistment. My current job as the Navy Search and Rescue Model Manager (in charge of people that do my job) i was kinda recruited to.

Thank you for the kind words and support, but i think as with anything, if you do it long enough or are forced to get yourself into crazy situations you get used to it and it just becomes simple and mundane. The Navy does a great job of dumbing things down in the beginning so it all becomes a very easy process to get from point a to b.

I took it for help, though not exactly to the bike shop. I saw BikeForumsite ptle at the outdoors center @ UT where they have bike stands and tools.

It's running now, though I need to put the bar tape back on.

as a Navy rescue swimmer type do you make fun of Coast Guard guys? I've heard them called Puddle Pirates.

PS - as an idiot who sails plastic boats in the ocean, thanks to you as well as the Puddle Pirates.

well, it's the Violet as far as the nickname is concerned, but i think the mascot is a bobcat. their kit was violet, though

i think it's the popular thing to do when you are a private university in the northeast. as such the mascot for the hahvahd crimson is the cantabrigian (most of you will say, wtf is that) and the mascot for the cornell big red is a bear. rather pathetic names and mascots compared to the one below, which copycatters in many places have adopted as their mascot

Enjoy myself. Group rides. TRI. Race at some point in the future. If it were on my coffee table it would block the TV.

What's the kit? The outfit?

I race with the guy who commissioned and was Capt. of this thing.

Before he retired, he brought it out here and came up the Chesapeake while we sailed along side streaming the colors (various beach cats). Other than a few cop like weenies on the inflatables in San Francisco Bay, most Puddle Pirates seem ok to me.
