I've been half planning a bike trip from DC up to Harpers Ferry and the Antietam battlefield for more than a year now. Maybe I'll actually do it this fall.

I worked at burger king between 16 and 19. The pay wasn't terrible equal with retail stores in the are.
The GM made over 60k a year...the normal managers between 35-45 k /year. Sadly more than most of the liberal Arts BA recent grad friends I have from school (of course it doesn't really matter to them as they keep leeching off their parents [take note pcad]). |
Who's "Jen"?

Why shouldn't we have cycle chicks posting here? I'm here.
Maybe coasting has been frightening them off with his stories of his escapades with his male companions? |

Fixed.
I think Pcad is some super-freds sock puppet anyway. |
And so the cyclocross build has begun..
Will be purchasing 7700 shifters for $20 from a friend who's upgrading to 10 speed :thumb: Everything else will be new. http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nsnats/719.jpg http://i270.photobucket.com/albums/j...nsnats/720.jpg |

I hereby vow not to get dropped tomorrow evening.
It comes out just saying it does not make it so. I was really hoping the Stuart Smalley method of positive affirmation with a bit of inconsequential trash talk would do the trick. Looks like it's back to doing more riding. Crap. Anyone wanna guess where they popped me? The power graph is fairly telling. http://connect.garmin.com/activity/42355443 |
Those are nice photos Z, did you take them with the cellphone you got your last Kracker Jack box?

How pathetic is the state of road cycling in Greece (where I'm heading on vacation)? Google 'bike shop Athens' and in the largest city in the country (population 8 million or so) there are TWO, count 'em TWO shops selling high end cycles. One even has a website. All Greek, no English language version. Of course, I'll be 30 miles north of Chalkida, about 80 miles north of Athens, and all the bike shops there are actually toy stores. I kid you not. There is virtually no serious road cycling in Greece at all. In 20 days over two trips riding daily around my Dad's house on Evia, I saw exactly ONE other cyclist on a high end road bike there.
In other words, if you're bringing your bike and you're riding, come prepared (parts, tools, etc.). |

Good grief it's humid: 83% Dew point 77F.
My bike was wet with condensation within a minute of me taking it outside. But I rode anyway, despite the harsh conditions and foggy glasses, because that's the kind of cyclist I am. Along the way I saw someone posing for bridal portraits. I bet that was fun. |
