10AM. Bedtime. Another early AM city race tomorrow.
That was perfect today. I got yelled at by two team mates and helped with the unsuccessful chase. Oh well. 10 AM is really early, do you mean 10 PM? |

It's 60º in Manhattan @ 3:30AM in late March. That has to be 20º warmer than I've ever seen it at this time of year before. That will be nice.

What did you do to get yelled at?
I'm in better shape than previous years. I feel I can help my team, and I'll lay it out there and try to do it again tomorrow, it's fun trying. |

First yelling: get to the front and help with the chase. And so I did.
I rode in the jogger's lane twice on one 6 mile circuit. First time it was my bad. Second time it was ride into the jogger's lane or crash. I opted for the former. I will try to avoid this in the future but on that course occasionally it's tough. Oh well. If you didn't get yelled at it wouldn't be the same anyway. |

She caught me at a light and told me I should be on the sidewalk to which I responded: "the state of NJ traffic laws disagree with your assessment, have a nice day."

The flip side of days like today are days when all the cogs mesh and the team delivers. If g didn't love racing, he wouldn't do it 50-60 times a season. I'm also not sure any team on this level is consistently more reliable and cohesive more than ours. We have our days. g is certainly the fastest guy in that peloton, but there are some serious Human Lungs that attack in those races, and g won't make every break. We have solid VO2 Max firepower on our squad, we should have enough to bring a 3 man 20 second break back into line. I'd be frustrated with a day like today if I were him too. |

Half of that is standard Bike Racing Agnst. It's a tough sport and it can piss you off.

Granted, I am not saying this should be a group hug every weekend, by any stretch. But, a teammate, a co-worker, anyone, keeps dumping on me enough, they would soon be alone more often than not. Attempting to get the dynamics of all this racing stuff, in hopes of someday understanding it enough to give it another shot. I hope I am not overstepping. |

Thanks roadiegeorge. I can certainly agree with getting the most out of our rides. But, if it isn't something one looks forward to doing each chance one gets, then why bother?
Not high, nor did I say it was a group hug event, gsteinb. What I thought was dumping appears to be banter amongst friends. My mistake, and again, sorry if I have overstepped my bounds. |
I know some of these guys almost 20 years. We did a bad job today. It doesn't happen often. And no one would say I'm anything but a gracious team leader.
