Wut?

patentcad 05-06-10 02:49 PM

When an amateur racer like Waterrockets can detonate the BB through sheer wattage, that's some sketchy action right there.

heckler 05-06-10 03:07 PM

didn't you technically detonate a 7800 crank through "sheer wattage" over time? I don't think it stands to reason that you should assume things won't break and better to have a frame with a lifetime warrenty when these things happen (says the guy that bought a bike with a 3 yr warrenty ;) )

You can't even spell warranty.

My aunt bought a much nicer bike than what I could even afford. I'm almost jealous. Almost. ...I wish I had a full time job and no parents to tell me 2000$ is too much...

Nope, not at all. Still checking out Foo to see what's up. Still checking out the womens forum, still checking out road and most importantly started looking seriously for a new bike. Gotta get in the mileage because we are thinking of going on a cycling trip to Ireland in late August ...

Tsuru 05-06-10 03:41 PM

Apparel retailers did not have a great April. :(

i wish you had put my bike together. Those ultegra shifters are unfathamable. i still cant get the shifting to work. stupid crappy engineering.

Don't go there. Cannondale, Specialized, Scott, Cervelo, etc. Lots of good brands. Those Madones are sketchy.

What are you doing wrong?

while I consider myself a pretty good bike mechanic guy I am not great at the most meaningful of all bike repairs...fine tuning derailers :( (of course I can get them good enough to use ;)

god knows. i put the rear gear cable through the shifter and it doesn't shift. i'll take a closer look tomorrow. i'm still pissed off.

Cheer up. Pudding face might still win.

A few minutes ago I watched whatever the BBC is streaming online. They had some guy walking up a virtual staircase pointing out portraits of former failed governments.

It was dumb.

You guys really are catching onto the American TV news model.

I assumed that it's live.

http://www.guardian.co.uk/politics/2...ults-2010-live

One thing I haven't seen though (yet) is the anchors pointing and zooming in on big interactive video screens.

Need to work on that.

. . . oh, now they're reading Twitter. Excellent.

oh please. that is our beloved swing-o-meter, a long time favourite.

Velo Vol 05-06-10 05:34 PM

I didn't see any zooming or moving stuff around on the screen. What I saw is like two years behind the curve.

Velo Vol 05-06-10 05:37 PM

We had this 18 months ago, junior.

kimconyc 05-06-10 06:44 PM

Just checking in since I didn't have a chance to go on BF today nor have I ridden my bike since I bailed on Sunday. That's a record on both accounts.

What is crazier, the riots in Greece, the S&Ps dropping 50 handles in 5 minutes only to rebound 50 in about 10, the fact that the Mets can go on an 8 game winning streak yet still suck, or that this thread still exists?

Sub-question for daily double, will this thread outlive humanity and will Pcad create a thread about it?

mzeffex 05-06-10 07:20 PM

I heard a weird buzzing sound on my way to work today, coming from my bike. No valve nuts or caps, so not that. Couldn't figure it out. Then I saw a spoke didn't break, but rather came out of the nipple. It was really weird. It just I guess shook loose - anyone else had this happen?

including cables/tuning? Not bad my friend.

Yup, thanks. XT derailleurs are good enough that they don't need much tinkering with.

I also tend to jack up the cabling or something. Without fail, I always hit a snag when working on my bike.

mzeffex 05-06-10 07:26 PM

Ha, yeah, that one just worked. The other night on my commuter I was trying to throw a spare XT derailleur (yeah.. uncle gave me some stuff last week) on and found out the current one is stripped in the hanger. It just spins.
