Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

because grabbing it at the saddle as a whole makes the hold more stable and easier to hold it in place? and if it is true, then they'd rather grab it at the front than at the back for *obvious reasons* XD

Bikes: Too many to list here check my signature.

I think I mostly saw people grab it by the seat and bars.

however I did once sell a bike to a woman who never testrode. she just stood beside the bike and grabbed it by the stem and bars as if she was walking it. she said this is ok and bought it!

Even though I wouldn't mind grabbing Liz Hatch's saddle, I still think it's a bit 'unclean'.

+1. I try to avoid the frame contacting anything. When i lean the bike i make sure no part of the frame touches whatever i being leaned against to avoid any risk of scratching it.

Pretty good advice. Most of my bikes have a nick or two somewhere from being leaned on the frame, usually on a poor material like concrete.

They're not gonna fall apart, but it's an easy class of minor damage to avoid.

Now, the massive paint that disappeared between my chainrings and the frame, that's a reminder to never buy a triple again!

I think "taint sauce" is the winner of this thread. I can say that i havent noticed anyone doing that to my bike, but now i will always have a hang up about touching other bikes, lest my hand be fouled by "taintus strangicus".
