Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

And the Vortex isn't as bad as it first appears.

check out our stupid road here.

two roads, running parallel to each other.

going east on lake shore, no left turns onto bathurst.
going south on bathurst, no left turns onto lake shore.
to add to the chaos, there are a set of streetcar tracks running on bathurst and fleet.

Turn Left lane.... in the middle of the road, which leads to no road, other than the one running parallel to it.

turn right from bathurst onto this section of road can be confusing with all these 'do not enter' signs.

Yeah, I remember one kid dying in a car collision there after turning down the street-car track.

'Tards in the Roundabouts

Sounds like a movie title.

When used correctly, they're supposed to eliminate drivers having to come to complete stops, right?

I'm certainly warming up to the idea, then. I'd like to personally detonate a number of stoplights.

They could start out by getting on the correct side of the road.

OK here is my question. I can see how this would be super awesome IF

1. I was driving an armored truck AND
2. I wanted to enter at point 4 and exit at point 5.

Pretty nifty. Get on at point 4, slowly spiral inwards without having to switch lanes, then magically get off where I wanted.

But what if - and I know I am probably crazy - I wanted to get on at point 4 and exit at point 2? How many lanes would I have to switch over? Too many and I spiral into a hole of death, much like the errant star that wanders too close to a black hole. Not enough lanes and I pass my exit - then invariably spiral into someplace I do not want to go.

If they ever build this disaster in South Florida - the population will get a lot smaller really fast. The bodies would pile up sky high, and there would be a whole lot of really cheap scrap steel just laying around. You will all be able to see the fires from the pile of burning cars clear to Canada.
