Look out guys--you're getting pretty far off topic. You know that's against the rules, right?
I don't have a problem with rules or moderation. I do have a problem when both are selectively enforced and used.
Being a dick and or an a-hole is obviously a legitimate part of the BF persona. Fine. Change the rules.

The serious part of the reply:
1) If you have a problem with a moderator action, take it up with an admin via PM (admins have 3 stars btw)
2) If you have a problem with an admin action, take it up with the head admin (Tom Stormcrowe for those who don't know)
3) If you have a problem with an action by Tom - yeah, good luck with that.
4) We have community guidelines. You all agreed to them, the mods & admins try to be equal and fair in our application of them, but members don't always see the entire story, nor are the mods/admins always perfect. (See points 1 - 3 above).
5) Last time I checked this forum was titled: "Road Cycling", not "What ever the people in Road Cycling want to talk about, start threads about, or make jokes about." We give ya'll a fair bit of leeway, but again there are guidelines, and we will try to maintain some level of civility and order. Don't agree with something, see points 1 - 3 above.
Ok, with that out of the way - I'll return you all to the randomness that this thread was drifting down regarding socks, shoes, and which to put on first.

Well I was a bit less than thrilled with how the Livestrong thread was moderated yesterday. It was clearly a politically motivated post to start with. When it all crashed into P+R the mod,
, apologized to the OP and said others couldn't follow the rules.... How's that**********?

https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...r-Relationship
or even
https://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...-friendly-bike
yet, there's not a single call to send it off to P&R in either of those threads.

I looked at those threads. They seem tame. Not much to fight about there. Not like health care reform, gay marriage or religion. I wasn't going to PM you to argue with you or whine about it. Nothing about that thread to discuss after the fact. It is your board to run the way you want to, not mine. But I will defend Livestrong if you let those kind of "political position" posts stay up in the 41.

That's like saying, "The Mob runs my town but that's OK because the trash gets picked up on time and when I need something, I just pay a visit to my local Don and kiss his ring."

Signal to noise ratio.
Everyone has their own threshold as to what's on topic for the sub-forum (Road, Track, A&S, ....)
Also, a lot of folks get really comfortable in a sub-forum (Road Cycling for example) and want to post everything there forgoing other, more appropriate, sub-forums. "How do I remove my Bottom Bracket?" is not a Road Cycling specific problem. So, stuff like that would best be directed to Mechanics. The same goes for off-topic threads.
I know that the humorous stuff is a tricky one. If you guys are comfortable here and know the members and the mood, it's easy to tell a joke or make a parody thread. Doing it in another sub-forum like Jokes and Humor or FOO might be like walking into a room full of strangers then telling a joke. I guess there's a fine line somewhere.

People tend to forget that a forum is a privately owned company and that free speech does not apply. The owner and his employees/volunteers/etc. have the right to censor, delete, and manage as they choose.

No they don't, but I knew that when I let them hang the extra stars next to my name.
