Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

It was incredibly painful. I did terribly. Oh Tee Bee. I didn't have any expectations and did it to say I did it. I have no idea who won. All I know is it wasn't me.

Found your report. I had considered doing it since I as up north for Pescadero yesterday, until I mapped it out and realized that was only like halfway

Last year a cat 2 teammate was in the P12 race with Lance & co.

I didn't even realize I rode 80 miles today...
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/37638732

Did the big group ride, then after the sprint when they cruise back into town, I turned off and did a bunch of climbing with another teammate. Turns out the group got into some kind of confrontation with a driver or something later, details are sketchy. Glad I missed it.

Training ride. Only brought one water bottle and blew up towards the end. Houston's humidity sucks.

Yesterday's group ride. It's a pretty flat course but it was in the 90's yesterday and stupidly humid like always in the midwest. I've been off the bike so much lately and I keep suffering on all the rides I used to be one of the strongest on. It's frustrating but I guess that's the price I pay to have a job and make a little money. Anyway, here's the link:

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/37738216

Tonight I was feeling really lazy but thought I really needed to get out on the bike if I didn't want my fitness to slide even more. I have never gone out specifically to do intervals and decided that could be kind of fun to try so I headed to the flattest road I could think of around here (there aren't many) and did 3 sets of 3'x1' intervals, shifting up a gear or two after each set of 3. It was hard and I was suffering on the last 4 or so but I figured it was worth it and it was kinda fun. Here's the results (minus cadence since I forgot to move my cadence sensor from my Felt to my Cannondale):

With my new bike and new garmin edge 500!

Waiting on the heart rate monitor and speed/cadence connector to arrive at the LBS before I get that data.

I don't think I'd go that far...

Anyway, here is today's ride. Some threshold intervals followed by some tempo and a cooldown of sorts out on the freeway.

heres a very quick ride. i only had an hour till i had to litterly jump into the shower and go to a swimmeet. ended the ride at around 3 30 and had to leave at 4. there were terable headwinds for most of the ride, like 20ish mph wasnt to fun, but could have been much worse
