Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Recovery-ish cruise around Mammoth yesterday (nothing is flat)
https://connect.garmin.com/activity/46411851

Mammoth to Paradise and back today. Good tempo effort on the climb up Rock Creek otherwise mostly cruising. Wind had picked up throughout the morning and I had killer headwinds on the last bit of 395 back into town, and through town to the final climb back up to the condo.

I was thinking it would be kind of cool if we created a GarminConnect account that we could all have access to and upload our rides to. That way we'd be able to add up the mileage, avg speed (i know, i know), avg. HR, and other data for all the members of BF that have a Garmin? Anybody down or is this just another one of my stupid ideas?

Last recovery ride before the next training block begins... sadly the heat & humidity came back after an unusual half-week break from it.

First ride with an Edge 500, instead of the ForeRunner 310XT I have been using. Both have their strong points. I like having the temperature channel and a lot more display fields, but mostly importantly the 3s average power field is a huge benefit to the 500.

Cross post from Southeast Did You Ride Today?

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/46668971

The plan for the day was to go out for a long and slow (18 mph) 100. I was on mapmyride last night figuring out a loop, when I noticed that the route didn't follow the road, so I started over. With more care I traced my route down 17 into Palatka onto 100 west to Keystone. Check out the bike trail shown by mapmyride, then back up 21 through Middleberg and back to OP.

Well, the weather didn't cooperate. First it was windy, then it started raining, not pouring but, still blowing. So we headed back into Green Cove and had a cup of coffee and headed home. Almost forgot to mention the group (herd?) of manatees in Black Creek.

2:21:50
40.70 miles
17.2 avg mph

Nothing special about the ride other than it was just really enjoyable. The weather was perfect, cars were behaving......just one of those rides!

The race I trained for all year long. My goal was to finish in the top-100. I finished 110th and now I don't know if I should be happy (from physical point of view my performance was good) or dissapointed (not in top-100)
...
If I would have won the sprint of my group, I'd have been 102th... so that doesn't really change much.

You should be happy. It's not like you were way off your goal.

Pulling my 26 lb son in a 30 lb trailer, ha ha. It was a hot day too. My day-care-time-trial. Check out that heart rate. I thought I was going to explode!

https://connect.garmin.com/activity/46734418

I'm new to cycling this year (April), but I'm having fun with it! I also think the training center software is a lot better for actually analyzing things.

Climb to the flats. It's a tick under 60 miles including the ride to the start and from the finish. It was wicked hot and I felt like crap until mile 40, then cramped at mile 45.
