Yes it is. Started about 5 miles north of the gap and paddled down to Belvediere launch point.

Triumph is just mad because their motorcycle conversation in Hot or Not went WAYYY off topic and he just wants to draw more topics off topic.

Anyways, I know I posted the wrong activity, but it is my latest video in a thread I have posted a decent amount of ride videos on. I'm not too concerned about your your thoughts triumph. I do love triumphs though! Just wasn't the place for a C*ck measuring conversation. Back to the videos.

I ran out of camera batteries after goofing off at that tree for about an hour. Lol, so I could not capture the rest of the voyage. Have you ever been down the Del. baj?

triumph.1 02-25-12 04:33 PM

I'm not mad at all, just don't care for hypocrites ;) Now maybe the thread can get back on track.:thumb:

Still rough around the edges, but there is now a web app version of SUFFERvision that pulls data from Strava. This makes it easy to retrofit telemetry onto your existing videos, or even the videos of others.

For example here is the Fred Rodriguez descent of Mt Diablo from earlier in this thread:

Mt Diablo Descent

See suffervision.appspot.com for more examples & some instructions.

You're the man. I still haven't gotten the other version to work because I guess my google gps ride data doesn't work. I tried both as GPX and KML or whatever the options are. When I get a garmin, I will absolutely be testing out your software. Also, do you mind if I put a link to it on my website? LiveOnceEnjoy.com as it would be a fantastic tool to recommend for people doing any of this type of activity. (My website does Cycling, Paddling, Skiing/boarding, Backpacking, climbing)

Wish I had more time to focus on it and update it more often but still saw over 1 million visits last year.

Yeah, the desktop app only handles .fit, .tcx, and .csv. Strava may handle more formats though, which may make the web version more accessible.

You're welcome to link. Hopefully I'll find some time soon to add a better UI for setting things up so you don't have to manually construct URLs.

X-LinkedRider 03-28-12 11:34 AM

I didn't think of exporting it to a csv. I will try that. And I will PM you and let you know when I have posted a link to it, so you know. Though I believe you need 50 posts to PM.

Is there any way that you can get the actual start time of the video? Seems like you'd be able to sync up the video and data automatically that way.

Only if your camera had built in GPS like the Contour or possibly an I-phone.

The desktop app can automatically sync based on the timestamp of the video file (assuming it's accurate and you haven't touched it). This works pretty well, although I find my Contour has a decent amount of clock drift, so I need to set the clock periodically or only use it for a rough sync. Unfortunately, once you've uploaded to youtube I don't think there's any timing metadata available.

Can you do a rough sync as suggested and then manually fine tune it? I am assuming you can cut and edit out parts as well right? This would all take re-syncing.

Certainly, you can fine tune after an auto-sync, and if you do your editing within the tool then you only sync once.

Here's a fun one:

Simon Gerrans Milan San Remo

Since the actual power file hasn't been shared, I wrote some code to scrape the power, time, distance, elevation from charts found on www.srm.de, then joined this with GPS data from Taylor Phinney's ride on Strava. The sync is not perfect, but it's good enough to match most of the action.

Alphamoose 03-30-12 11:24 AM

Do you mean that the desktop app looks at the file modification date of the video file, or the start time record contained in the file? Maybe I'll write a quick 'n dirty to set the mod times of all my video clips to be the same as their actual recording start, as the file timestamp changes once I copy them from my GoPro.

It looks at the file modification time, which should be equal to the time when the recording ended. The timestamp may be preserved if you move the file off the camera instead of copying it. Anyway, if you touch the file to set the mod time, make sure you set it to the time when recording started + the duration.

Alphamoose 03-30-12 01:53 PM

OK, it turns out that while my creation date is newer, my file modification time is already what it should be. But I'm not sure what should get the desktop app to sync with my .fit file...the Sync button? It didn't seem to do anything...?

This is Cold Springs Road (steep!), Lotus Road, Mt. Murphy Road (steep dirt road-yes I actually rode my road bike up this!), and the final descent of the day down Marshall Road. As with all my videos there's plenty of female cyclist suffer sounds on the climbs, so be forewarned!

Not quite cobblestones but that is a cool video. Did you have multiple cameras or just switch position every so often?

I did that climb seven times with the Contour mounted in various positions.
