so basically all lezyne mount on the side like that ? i have a problem with this because the pump is not in the slipstream of the frame so to speak - it is not aerodynamic way to mount it.

i suppose if u need both bottle cages its a good design. i don't even need one.

i use two MUP / trails nearby - stevens creek trail and los gatos creek trail. yes i drive all the way to the trail, they have a nice parking lot.

who needs aerodynamics on the MUP?

If you're riding fast enough that the aerodynamics of a bike pump make any difference at all on multi use trails, you're a danger to yourself everyone else on them.

1) If you really have a problem with the mount, call Todson and ask them for another one. 99% chance if you're polite on the phone, they'll send one for free. They may even send one of the mounts like the above picture which mounts to the side of one of the cages.

2) If you don't ride on the road, I think aerodynamics are not something you need to be concerned about. Particularly if you are also still using platform pedals and wearing street clothes. Street clothes are not aerodynamic, you know. They flap around. And things.

that's a possibility. it doesn't fit in the one i have ( the north face junction 4 ) but i can return it to REI and get something roomier. problem is i didn't want a pack any bigger than i need. the junction 4 is really small - i like that.

your body is not aerodynamic. that pump will not be the cause of you slowing down, anyway more resistance = better workout

except most pumps mount to the side. there are frame pumps that hang off of the top tube

you can also put the pump in your back pocket if you are really that worried. look, if you aren't racing it doesn't really matter. and if you are, you either get a free lap to get a spare wheel or have to drop out.

there is nothing wrong with the road, i live the most conjested state, you get used to it.

Then get a damn comfort bike and slow the **** down. If you aren't willing to ride on the ROAD, then sell your ROAD bike. MUPs exist for... multiple uses. Amazing how that works, isn't it? They aren't for you to push 20mph in the drops, and if you're not doing that, you don't need to be concerned with aerodynamics.

what are we, in the 80's? forget about a frame-mounted pump. get a mini pump that fits in your jersey pocket or roll with co2.

hm i have a cable going under the top tube that is almost in the middle. that's why i couldn't mount the morph there using the plastic zip things.

u think i could mount some other pump there ? that would be aerodynamically preferable to side mounting.

Your bottlecage bolts are not a unique and special snowflake. Barring substitution of aftermarket bolts, they are all the same size, and your bike is not special or unique enough to need different size bolts. I call bullsh*t. You apparently just don't understand how to install a frame mount pump that thousands of other people install and use without issue. If you got a defective mount, then contact the manufacturer. Saying all Topeak products are trash because you are too lazy to verify if you have a defective mount or not is lazy and small-minded.

The mount has a space for the cable, I can use my back brake without any hindrance, as the cable is protected by the mount itself, and thus the zip ties can't even compress that cable. You just confirmed you were unable to figure out how to install the mounting bracket.
