Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i started riding in the drops this week. i love it.

I was actually thinking about installing a 58 tooth chainring and machining my own 10-19 cassette.

OT: Neurosport, i feel like i know you from somewhere, but not sure where. the fact that you are from the bay and mention stevens creek/los gatos seems to confirm my suspicions. where did you go for highschool/college?

And whose coattails did you ride to get your degree? If you can't figure out how to mount a simple frame bracket, I doubt yop could design anything.

my mount has no such space. i have it right here. i obviously returned the pump without it since it was destroyed.

Apparently it is beyond you. I have my rear brake cable in the exact same place you do, and I mounted the bracket in a couple of minutes, and I have no problems with the zip ties compressing the cable, as the design prevents the zip ties from even touching the cable. I'm not even an engineer of any variant, nor am I particularly mechanically inclined, and I had no problem, same as thousands of other people. It's not a stretch to see that you are particularly inept at anything other than trolling.

*sigh* you are dense. the cable runs along the side of the mount. The thickness of the zip ties along with the position of the bottom edge of the bracket prevent the zip ties from bending at the angle require to actually compress the cable, unless your top tube is thinner than the bracket itself (even then the zip ties cannot bend at a 90 degree angle due to their stiffness), something that that is demonstrably false.

Clearly not, since you can't figure out even the basic stuff.

That's rich. If I and many thousands of others can install and use it without any issue, the problem is not with Topeak's design, the problem lies with you being unable to figure out a simple task. I have my rear brake cable in the exact same place, and I have the exact same model and mounting bracket, and the only difference is that my top tube is a slightly different shape, which is completely irrelevant to installation.

Because just about every trollish post you make is a target-rich environment for people to pick apart. You have no logical counter, so you resort to posting more trollish crap in the hopes that we will go away.

And yet approximately Every Single Other Person Who Has Bought This Product has either been able to mount the thing properly or found a preferable solution. Strange, that.

what is wrong with you ? why would i do something like that ? i didn't want to have the pump not centered. i wanted it perfect. it would have been perfect if i managed to drill that hole but it turned out too hard.

and don't give me sh1t about how the pump is designed to fit around the cable - what a joke. that pump isn't designed for sh1t. it's just a piece of filth.

and the whole idea that i need to THINK how to install a pump to me is insane. should i also think about how to tie my shoelaces ? it should have been designed to JUST FIT without any thinking.

sure if my life depended on it i could go to the store get another one and mount it one way or the other - but why ? i already know its garbage - why would i get it again ?

the whole topeak brand to me reminds of oxo good grips utensils and simply human waste baskets. i wouldn't be surrpised if its actually made by the same company. they should stick to waste bins.

As a matter of fact, people *are* taught how to tie shoe laces. It's not a skill you're born with. Or do you use velcro because you haven't figured those out yet either?

Unless you have your cable tight enough to play bass with, there is some play. My pump sits right under the top tube as I look down on it. *shrugs*

and don't give me sh1t about how the pump is designed to fit around the cable - what a joke. that pump isn't designed for sh1t. it's just a piece of filth.
Nope, you are just too stubborn to bother trying to install it correctly, or figure how to do so. That is not my problem, but yours. Plenty of people install the mount and use the pump with no problems AT ALL. If you are not one of them, the issue is with you, but apparently you can't admit that you can't do something. It's probably why you make all these ridiculous posts about how uber you are.

*shrugs* I know for a fact that the pump works fine, and the bracket installs easily, evidenced by my own experiences, and the experiences of many people who have posted about it at various places on the web. Go ahead, keep buying pumps, be unable to install them, label them "filth" and declare that every manufacturer is inept and stupid. You did it with helmets, why would we expect you to do anything different here, since you can't admit failure or ignorance?

How terrible for you, to be an OCD perfectionist, but be unable to do the simplest things.

Gotcha. Now you are angry. You throw up all these guards, and yet you get mad IRL about an argument on the internet. You get angry, you lose.

by the way, i suggested the military cause you are jobless and you have a degree, you get paid a lot better and go in as an officer with a degree, on top of that, you will find out what real fear is or atleast how to deal with it and figure out that life can be really short so make the best of it.
