miles and miles
This is probably not a big deal to a lot of you, but for the first time yesterday I rode 100 miles in a day. It felt great, awesome, just to know that I could do it. The day couldn't of been better too. Living in Kansas the temperature is usually always in the 100's or 90's, but yesterday it was high 70's, low 80's and the humidity was low, and I kept an average speed of 17 mphs. It definitely gave me a new perspective and respect for professional riders. I don't know how they can go for several days riding more miles and having such a higher average speed. I definitely made myself suffer going over the rolling hills, and I think I am going to need a couple days of rest now.

i agree, 100 miles is super fun on a good day. I've only done 100 once, last season (planning on my second a week from saturday), and have come close (90's) 3 or 4 times. I like the feeling you get when your hovering around 70 miles and youre still in the middle of nowhere and a considerable distance from where you are trying to get to.
anyway, keep it up.

Good for you, keep at it and soon you'll be doing one or two a week. It's addictive.

Great job. I will be riding 100 miles from Omaha to Sioux City the day before RAGBRAI starts 07/24/10. I know I will do fine for the first day. I am just wondering how well the 68 miles to Storm Lake will be after the 100 the day before.
