Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

What do you mean? My LBS has the 2011 Roubaix Elite in stock. I purchase a 56 frame size. I checked their website and they have not posted their 20011 line-up.
It's an awesome bike anyways.

Specialized will be showing off the 2011 fleet in person this weekend at a local park (sponsored by an LBS of course). I'm going to go just out of curiosity and to say I've ridden a really expensive new bike.

Why is it that the Tarmacs have an Apex, Rival, and Red group set, but no Force. I wanted the 2011 Expert, but I wanted it with SRAM. So, I would have to either buy the lower end Comp with Rival or the higher end Pro with Red. They are making things so difficult!

I hope I went the right way with the SRAM APEX instead of 105....

Also why is the new model cheaper?

From what I hear, force isn't really worth the upgrade over rival.

Probably because they realized that there is no value in Force...

you did, apex is awesome as is that bike. we have had three come through the shop, they are great. you can get alot of the 11 models now, at least the base models and elites and such of the tarmacs.

The new Allez is cheaper one because of apex and two because of not having the carbon rear stays. But it now has a tapered head tube, it rides amazing and they changed the frame quite a bit. it really rides amazing.

Nice. After a couple of white frames I'm thinking of going with a darker colour, although it's not the most important thing when I'm buying.

Talked to a local dealer today, and they said they can't get the SL3 Roubaix models (and possibly Tarmac) until late fall/winter. There goes my birthday present to myself.

Really? Can you explain this. What about the zero loss of Force?

Force and Rival both have ZL only in the front. There is no functional difference between them.

In the testrider review I'm pretty sure they say 2010 Force added ZL in the rear. Maybe not? So you'd say weight is the only difference?

Yeah, I was wrong. I just looked it up. To achieve ZL in the back would you need just a Red shifter or also a Red rear derailleur?

I'm an sworks kinda guy...

You only need the shifter, not the RD to get ZL.

The lineup was incomplete. Along with the Shiv they are adding the Shank and Conjugal Visit to round out the Prison Series of fast break bikes. Warrantied for life.

To be fair, I've read a couple of reviews that said that Red isn't really worth the upgrade over Force 2010.

To many it won't be, but at least there is a functional difference between them.
