Nothing to do with getting dropped, it's the going in circles 30+ times. Seems very redneckish, nascar to me, which I can't stand to watch. *shrug*. When I run a marathon, it's all continuous unique terrain, I specifically avoid the double lasso ones. Training for those the most loops I usually do, triple 9 milers, ugggh super mindnumbing.
But century rides aren't very competitive, or timed, and it's kind of meh.

once I started, I was surprised to find that I really liked it! a little cold at times, but what a relief not to have gross sweaty legs. and the women at the office think it's really cool - they ask about blade vs. electric, frequency, etc...
I don't shave above the knees b/c the shorts cover that area.

I don't race. I shave my calves and knees ever since my first crash. yanking bandages off the road rash was horrific.

Nair for Men works wonders. If I decide to grow that hair back, it won't grow gorilla status from all the shaving. It takes a bit more time but it's wipe on - wipe off. The first time through, all the hair came off like gooey black gel.

I did the same thing the first time I tried. I must admit I asked my girlfriend to buy the depilating cream since I was shy and at first she thought it would be funny to see me with shaved legs but now she totally prefers it.
So my answer is : For the lady.
Extra Life stories : I crashed like 2-3 weeks ago and I was glad I had shaved the day before, It looked a lot easier at the hospital to clean the wound and cut off the dead lumps of skin...
And today in class there was that girl with epicly well shaved legs, and I said to myself : omg I haven't shaved my legs this week... When I realized that I was looking at her legs and wondering when would I be able to shave mine I felt so weird inside of me

and I got plenty of stories like that
