Thanks yeah that's what I wanted, alas, it looks ****ing terrible. I guess I'll stick to all black cockpit because I absolutely hate white bartape. I may have to get a red chain :p

For those wondering, I have the silver/red Ksyrium SL wheelset to match the crank which was in improvement over the stock black aksiums: style and substance (I climb 90% of the time).

I just picked up a 06 CAAD9 with all stock parts and less than 1000 miles on it. The reviews I have seen of the CAAD9 have been good and the test ride was very comfortable. I will work with the LBS to get it fit correctly. Very much looking forward to putting some miles on it but I am just getting into distance biking and am wondering if there are any parts on the bike I should be keeping an eye on? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Welcome..for starters a pic would be great. Congrats on getting a great bike. If the bike is in good condition, and rides fine then there is nothing you need to keep an eye on. Get the bike comfortable for you and and ride.

Sweet CAAD10, how do you like the BOYDS?

Hi.

I have a 2012 CAAD 8 105. Has anyone put together a list of the specific tools that are needed to maintain this bike? I dont want to buy anything that doesn't fit this bike specifically. I dont have other bikes and dont intend to get any others soon, so I just want a specific tool set for this model only.

Thanks.

By far the most important thing you can do is make sure the fit is perfect; so it looks as if you have the right mindset already. Components, cockpit, wheels, etc. can all be upgraded / swapped as you personalize the bike to your particular taste, but for starters, get a good fit and just enjoy the ride. The CAAD9 is a great bike... of course I'm a little bias.

SandCrab, nice CAAD10. Boyd did a nice job with the decals on those wheels too. Any deeper of a wheelset and I'd be a bit turned off, but it seems to flow quiet well.

Duct tape and a corkscrew. They fit perfectly.

Horrible bike, box it up and ship it to me QUICK!!!...lol...just having fun. I love the bike. I tried to find that frame myself. Once you get the bike fit to you it will be a blast. If not.....refer to my opening line and ship it to me. Bike looks good, enjoy the ride and worry about extras later.

Yeah, @THSdrummer, I think since the CAAD10 3's shade of red is so hard to match on other components of the bike, I think it'd be best just to stick with either white or black components and let the frame take care of the red, like SandCrab's CAAD. Deep dish wheelsets always make a bike look good, lol. Might as well make that upgrade first. :D

Is it me or does everyone seem to prefer to buy the older CAAD10s? The 2013's seem like a trainwreck with the paint scheme. I hardly see anyone here with the 2013s, and they've been out for 5 months already. Why "fix" what's not broke?

You will find it common here that most didn't care for the '13 paint schemes. I can't wait to see what they will have for '14. I will admit I like the black/raw color scheme but not enough to dive in.

I feel the same way about most of them, but the 2013 CAAD 10-5 Liquigas colour scheme gives me serious bike envy. I prefer it to the 2012 version.

Funny you should mention that! I never intended for any red upgrades, but I've settled on a white saddle/bar tape. That purchase will probably be made in the summer (when my riding will be more extensive and I can demo saddles more efficiently. Also, I'll have money then, hopefully). What I find interesting, is I was eyeing the same wheel set SandCrab is using. The Boyd 58's stealth. For $880, they aren't a bad deal right now, but I just don't have the funds.

I like the way you think, SandCrab! Just know, if at some point in the future our bikes match, imitation is the most sincere form of flattery ;)

Personally, I really enjoy the 2013 CAAD colorways. In particular, the CAAD10 3 colorway (not the one shared with the 105). I think black/white is classy and the raw just adds a little extra flavor. It wasn't worth an extra $500 over my current bike though. No colorway would've been worth that.

There isn't a lot you need for routine maintenance. A torque wrench and a set of allen wrenches (3, 4, 5, 6), pedal wrench, grease, maybe a chain checker, maybe a chain tool, maybe a cable cutter but those are all generic tools. Your everyday tools would be your floor pump and chain lube.
