Don't worry, sogocou! I'm new to this as well, and my first road bike is my CAAD10 :)

If I had fit myself, I probably wouldn't be in the "proper" position. The position my fitter set me up with (an aggressive racer position) was very awkward and slightly uncomfortable at first, but I'm adjusting to it. The main awkwardness was/is the reach to the hoods. I find that the most uncomfortable part of my position now is the saddle after about 10 miles. I don't want to think of doing a 50 mile ride on my current saddle, or 25 miles on these country roads.

sogocou 01-14-13 10:25 AM

Same here...
I have already changed my saddle. :-)
I know that caad10 is an "aggressive geometry" bike and I have to fit the bike like that but I prefer to get to the "right position" gradually.
:) Μy body is gonna need some time to get used to my new bike.

Holy crap. For a second I thought this was my bike. That's a good looking caad! :thumb:

I personally love my 2013 10 5 with the green/blue/white scheme. More green and blue than the 2012. I had the choice between the two (bought right during the model year changeover in July) and I chose the 2013.

+1 Shifter placement on the bars is fine. Bars are just rotated upwards too far.

You might be right.

I did the same thing with my first road bike. No one will notice on the road, take your time adjusting. (Nice bike, I have the same one)

Hi guys,

I'm getting to know my CAAD9 again after my carbon Tri frame got wrecked. The Cannondale is sitting on the trainer right now in the cold winter, but I would like to put some work into it, transferring some stuff off the tri bike as the CAAD will become my full time ride this racing season.

I'm changing the rear derailleur to Ultegra 6700 SL (From 6600, it's showing it's age, very unpredictable and the spring is slack)
Front DR to Ultegra 6700 SL (Already have it)

Aesthetically I'm not sure what to do, I would maybe like to go a little darker on the crankset, I find the chrome to be a little much.
I have a 105 FC-5650 (5600?) 39/53 crankset on there right now, I'm considering changing the rings to wickerks (black with a little chrome). Or, I have a FSA Energy crankset off the tri bike (all black) that I could put on there (I would have to change the rings to wickwerks, the FSA ones are noisy and soft). If I find a good deal on a better crankset, I would consider it.

Saddle to black ?
Handlebar tape to black ?
SPD-SL pedals to black if I change the crankset (already have them)
I'm happy with my training and racing wheels.

The frame is lite gray as you can see here, but has a neat effect under the clearcoat (almost like shimmer powder?). I've never paid much attention to asthetics on this bike, but I think it deserves it, and I've been getting envious looking at all the pics on this thread over the last few years.
USA made, from the last year production got moved. I've never weighted it, but I'm guessing about 16Lbs with the carbon race wheels?

love it...but I do agree that black would look better than the chrome on this bike. black comps, bar tape, and saddle...everything else looks great.

THSdrummer 01-16-13 12:04 PM

The black cranks will certainly make it look better. I do like the white saddle/tape though; however, the black could be pretty neat.

That's a pretty awesome frame color. To be honest, it might be one of my favorites now. It's stealth without being black-on-black. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks with the changes.

Hey guys, got plenty of help earlier when I was trying to pick a bike (ended up with the 2013 Caad 10) that I have another question. I am in need of a bike floor pump and was wondering what you guys typically use? I've heard great things about the Silca Pista Pump, is it worth it? Thanks in advance, open to any suggestions!

NWS Alpine 01-16-13 04:20 PM

The Silca is a nice pump. I'm fond of the Lezyne CNC flor drive. Either would last a long time and work well.

Nagrom_ 01-16-13 04:22 PM

You can't go wrong with a Joe Blow Sport.

And if you want a little bit of an upgrade, you'll like the Joe Blow Pro.

IndependentMind 01-16-13 04:37 PM

Joe Blow X 2

The nozzle head is nice on those, a friend has one and it kills my Beto floor pump (crap nozzle, it doesn't like valve extensions).
Used it now at a couple of races, it sets up real quick and caught my valves on the first try, flip the switch on the head when you're done and it pops off on its own (no wasted air)

I need to give in and just buy one instead of cursing my Beto POS...thanks for the reminder

Nagrom_ 01-16-13 04:52 PM

My CAAD10 will be operational by this weekend.

Nice!

Very nice! IMO...the 20113 Force is the best bang for your performance buck.

I can't wait that long, so I went with the 2013 Force. Pretty good stuff, but no wireless electronic laser shifting, like on the 20113 Force, haha.

Mid build, got too dark to finish out on my unlit patio:

Don't mind the spacer stack, it's probably gonna be slammed because I sized up, instead of down. I left enough for the obligatory 10mm spacer on top, and 20mm of play. Tips the scales at 13.32lbs as pictures, so I will be probably around 15.5 when complete.

Can't wait. All I need is a couple headset microspacers because my dustcap is making contact with the headtube. My local shops don't have any. Other than that, I have all the parts. Tomorrow I'll throw the rubber and cables on, and get everything adjusted. I have a century planned for Monday.

bianchi10 01-16-13 09:29 PM

cant wait to see this complete nagrom!!

Nagrom_ 01-16-13 09:30 PM

Thanks! I'm pretty excited too, hah.

bianchi10 01-16-13 09:34 PM

For shame though with using bontrager cages on a C'Dale :p

I kid I kid.....

What wheelset is that??

Nagrom_ 01-16-13 09:35 PM

Don't worry, they're knock offs, hahaha.

Looking good Nagrom...can't wait to see the finished product

bianchi10 01-16-13 11:00 PM

What are your thoughts on the veloplugs? can you share any pro's or cons with them? I have a bag that is literally being shipped to my house right now. Have heard good things about them, nothing bad really other than they can be stubborn to install on some bikes. Have they created any flats for you?

I haven't ridden these wheels yet, but I've used veloplugs on other wheelsets.

They're painful to install. Your fingers will hurt. I've never had them cause flats, even when using conti supersonic tubes.

Pros: Cuts a handful of grams where it matters most for stupid cheap.
Cons: A bear to install. Not difficult, just painful.
