Bianchi and/or Nagrom,
Can you educate me on what advantages the veloplugs offer over rim tape? This has puzzled me reading about them here, seems like a good idea but overkill, unless they help with a tubeless tyre system, maybe. Thanks in advance for any gouge you an offer a CAAD brother.

They save you about 30-40g depend in on the weight of your rim tape. Rotational weight is she any kind of weight savings really counts. It also supposedly allows more space which a lot of people have claimed that installing tires to be easier. Its not necessary but its very inexpsive. I just got a bag of them for $11 on eBay.

You can't use veloplugs with a tubeless setup. It will not seal the rim bed. Stans tape with 2 layers is about the same weight as using veloplugs (both around 5-6g per wheel). The only benefit of veloplugs is that if you aren't tubeless and have a tight rim/tire combo it will be easier to install than using Stans tape.

Speaking of Stan's anybody use their tubeless system for ROAD? Love my MTB Stans wheelset. Havent heard much about their road Wheelsets.

Yeah there are quite a few. I have been using it for a while and will never go back. No flats and sublime ride and performance. New tire selections that came out this fall has really helped move people to road tubeless.

I've been considering it, which is why I went with tubeless ready A23's, so I have the option in the future. Tubeless 23's on a 23 must be stupid dreamy.


Guys.... Setting up those Planet X brakes using Yokozuna Reaction is a nightmare. My caad is done though.

Don't worry about it, I got them in place. They do not mix well with yokozuna.

I installed mine with Yokozuna too. Unless you are handy with bikes I would not recommend it :) It's a measure twice cut 4 times type of job to get the brake cable housing perfect. You can save a lot of time with a dremel and cutting wheel and you will need a knife to remove a small amount of the casing to fit the brakes.

Then the fun begins getting the set screw perfect so that it doesn't slip or cut the cable. I went through 4 brake lines getting it perfect. On the plus side it's perfectly centered and awesome performance.

You must be OCD to install these brakes with Yokozuna cables.

Even better is Tubeless 25s on a 23 width rim. I'm going that route when my fusion 3s wear out. I have a custom wheelset built on the Kinlin XC279.

Yeah i was worried, b/c used to be very few tire choices. Sounds like i might go the tubeless route when i buy my new wheels in a couple of months.

How do ilinks work? Are they simply little links that you slide on, one after another like making a necklace? Or is it just a cable that you cut like traditional cables?

Basically you build the housing link by link. Then there is a liner you either run inside or is built into the links depending on what system you use. You can add or remove links until you get a correct length. Then slide a normal cable through and cut as usual. If you need to change the housing you can always add or remove links at any time.
