Tubeless?!? My 10 with DI2 came with Ultegra tubeless ready wheels but I'm running the GP4000s. Let us know what you think of tubeless after a few rides.

Thanks for posting this pic. Nice bike I am getting delivery of my new bike this week and am thinking of getting the H Plus Sons Archetype wheels (still debating on hubs). can you please give me a quick couple of lines regarding the wheels. I will be swapping out the Mavic Aksium wheels that come with the CAAD10. Are the Archetypes going to be faster & lighter and reliably bombproof or am i just better off sticking with my Mavic's?
I say ditch the mavic wheels. These will be just as strong with a nicer rim profile, wider and more comfortable. My set came to 1500 grams on the dot in 20/24 spoke build. Depending on your weight and riding style you could add spokes at a minimal weight penalty. I'm 160lbs at the moment and can get to 170lbs over winter. |

I just built up these wheels the other week and only have one ride in but so far I am very happy and impressed. I built them myself so they were very inexpensive. All parts were less than $400. You can check out my build log here for more detailed info regarding the wheels - http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...l-build-thread

I've been considering various handbuilt wheel setups for a while, but I think I've finally landed on a build I like the sound of. Just going to start amassing parts and have the local mechanic build them in January or February. |
Man, The 2011-2012 CAAD10s looked great, the newer stuff is "okay" to atrocious.

test ride?
question: I want to use the Cannondale CAAD10 road bike for all-day long club group rides. Could be pacelines/pelotons or loose groups. Up to 100 miles or more. Steep hills, flats, rolling hills, etc.. Would the CAAD10 frame be too harsh or hard for one? I got a Chromoly steel road bike bike ( Kona ***** Inc / Kona H o n k y Inc)
and I want to get a lighter and faster road bike. The Kona is somewhat more of a commuter road bike. ( a little of jack of all trades, not quite a master of one thing which is road riding/racing ) How do one test ride to see if the Cannondale CAAD10 bike won't beat you up after two to ten hours of riding? I did test ride both Cannondale aluminum CAAD10 and carbon fiber frames year or two ago for few minutes, surprisingly I preferred the Al over the CF. I could feel the road. But it still some of that bite when it goes over potholes and crevices. |

But it still some of that bite when it goes over potholes and crevices. I've ridden my CAAD10 for about 5,500Km since March this year - over all sorts of roads, from smooth tracks, to rough and very ordinary surfaces. My longest single ride has been 100Km, but I did do 260Km in one day (60Km+) segments over 12 hours and never had any issue with soreness, etc. I also race - s l o w l y - and the bike has soaked up everything I've thrown at it. Once I've had the CAAD10 for a few years, I'll most likely buy a new one (or contemorary equvalent), as I love the dynamics of the bike so much. cheers |

Having just got my CAAD10 my experience is limited but I am also going from an old steel bike to the CAAD10. I did just under 2 hrs in a shakedown ride and while I was getting a bit uncomfortable in the seat (no bike shorts just regular shorts and it was hot so I was sweating) it was fine and I think I can go further even without bike shorts as I was not sore at all after. I didn't really notice the bike being particularly harsh to ride

But it still some of that bite when it goes over potholes and crevices. I've done multiple centuries on it, some that included 40+ miles on gravel. I'm also planning on riding it during next years Death Ride, a 130 mile tour of the California Alps, with some 15k feet of climbing. If it wasn't comfortable, I'd be looking for a different bike. |
has anyone fitted 23mm wide rims on their CAAD10 with 23mm or 25mm GP4000s? just wondering if there will be problems with frame clearance?

I've had 23 GP4ks on 23mm rims. No issues with clearance. I'm currently on 23mm tubeless schwalbe ultremo ZXs, that are a whopping ~27.5mm wide on the rims. Plenty of clearance still.

Thanks nagrom. are you finding the 23mm rims more comfy and faster?
The wider profile is definitely more comfortable. |
Quick question about serial# on CAAD10
Guys I gotta ask quick question about the serial numbers on the CAAD10.
There is a warning sticker with a serial number sticker above it on the seat tube ... What is this number? I just found out when I tried to register the bike that the sticker on the BB is the actual serial number of the bike. But when I entered the serial number from the seat tube, the cannondale page stated that that serial number is already registered !?!? And that an alert has been sent to the email on file. Also, one more question: Why is C-dale using stickers instead of engraving the serial# into the frame?? Thanks in advance!!!! |

I don't know why it isn't engraved. |
Proud new cult member ... abbreviated version of how I got here
- some low-life stole my wife's 2006 CAAD8 (which she loved) out of our garage because we left it open for about an hour - naturally, the low-life ignored my aging 2005 Allez that I had been hoping to get rid of after 8 years getting my money out of it - we live in Houston, in Washington Corridor area ... hipsters and low-life scumbags all over this place, they're indistinguishable BTW - decided to replace both bikes with some keepers - Statefarm gave us $1500 for the CAAD8 (full replacement insurance FTW) - sold the Allez on Craigslist for $250 in literally 2 hours - bought a Men's 2014 CAAD10 Ultegra and a Women's 2014 CAAD10 Ultegra ... both in black - out the door with tax and 2 pairs of Shimano 6800 Ultegra pedals for under $5000 - received the bikes 2 weeks ago - rained last 2 weekends, naturally - got frustrated and decided to bust out the trainer and have a little pre-winter indoor fun and watch some football - grabbed some pics of mine while she's nice and shiny (the parts that aren't matte black anyway) - completely in love with the bike, but dying to get out on the road when it isn't wet - only planned upgrades are two sets of RS81-C24s for me and the mrs - hope you enjoy the pics, I've enjoyed eyeballin' everyone else's http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...psfd605f60.jpg http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...ps1bb2ba24.jpg http://i612.photobucket.com/albums/t...psc788a91d.jpg |
I simply love the 2014 CAAD10 3. I'm doing my best to save up some cash to pick one up hopefully at the end of next summer - when they go on sale. Some white bar tape and a white saddle and classic bend handlebars with gumwalls and that thing would be perfect IMO.
