I'm riding 25mm GP4000s on mine and I reckon you'd almost be able to get a 28mm tyre in if you had to.

cheers

LJD, Nice bike!! i have had mine on order for 3 weeks and have been told that it will come this thursday. I think that it won't be here till at least another week though. My wheels are also being built while the bike is on its way. I will put some pics up as well.

Sidenote - does anyone have any recommendations for wheel skewers? I'm thinking Enve Titantium, Tune DC14, KCNC Titanium, or Hope Stainless. any ideas on durability and ease of use?

I'd recommend finding some on ebay... imho, paying more than $40-$50 on skewers is mad... once you put them on, you basically forget about them. not exactly something to nit-pick on.

actually, dont forget about them.. especially quick releases... unless you like pain. I enjoy my generic Ti, allen head skewers.

Also, I really don't think the caad10 has clearance for 28mm tires... 25mm fit, but are rather snug especially in the rear.

Thanks, I am leaning towards the 23mm tyres as i have a pair of GP4000s in that size. Was thinking of ordering a pair of 25mm. Have decided on saving the money until the 23mm ones wear out. New wheels should be here in a couple of weeks to go with my brand new 2014 caad10 3 ultegra (yet to arrive)

What's wrong with the ones that come with the bike? Am I missing the crucial key to getting 400w by using the factory skewers? Will aftermarket skewers make the girls want me more???? TELL ME NOW!!!!

And that bike is b!tchin!!!!!!!

I have a 2012 CAAD10 105. That 2014 CAAD10 3 is making me contemplate selling my current bike and getting one of those instead, since I know I'll eventually want to upgrade it. :o

I have a buyer for the mavic wheels that come with the bike, so the skewers go with them. i don't care about wattage or weight (that much). just want something sturdy, good looking (if i can get affordable and light then i'm happy) budget is approx $60-70

LJD 10-14-13 10:18 AM

@ dk2ck: It's 50cm
@ SirHustlerEsq: Thanks, it's a loft-style 3-story townhouse. There is a lot of cool architecture/design in this part of Houston.

Nice bikes. Enjoy them. You earned it.
Bummer about Houston. Didn't know it was like that. Just make sure you invest in a good lock/chain/cable for those coffee stops. Turn your back on your unlocked bike for a second...bam...gone.

Fellow cult members: It is my pleasure to announce that I am as of 3:00PM today, an official CAAD riding member. 2013 CAAD10 5. Took it for a short ride from the bike shop. WOW!!!! I now understand.

welcome - let us know how the long ride goes too. It was a long time ago when I owned my first CAAD - well maybe 16 years or so. Very nice back then. I've got a new CAAD now (CAAD9 since '09) and still great fun. enjoy !

My GF lives in Houston (near Rice) and she told me that recently its quite popular to steal bicycles off bike racks on cars in traffic. So make sure to lock your bike to the bike rack when transporting.

That's outrageous!!!!

Texas, along with other states where this madness exists, need to address the popularity of such crimes and make it very unpopular.
