I just want my bike to look good. I don't get to ride much. So I want something pretty to look at. :) |
Local bike shop has a 2013 CAAD10 2 (Force Racing) on sale for a ridiculously low price, and I'm considering picking it up next week. I have been trying to do a little research on the CAAD10's updates over the years, and I haven't been too successful. Other than paint scheme, and the small updates to the drivetrain, have there been any significant updates to the frame over the past few years? Also, are there any expected changes with 2014? ... I guess what I'm asking is should I wait for the 2014 year, or buy this 2013 CAAD10 2 at about 35% discount from MSRP. My gut reaction is that I can't really pass up on such a good deal ...

follow your gut...you can see images of the 2014 CAAD line online, it has been posted here....I say jump on the deal but you have time to do some homework.

Anyone have personal experience installing a bb30 crankset on their caad10?
More specifically, how many spacers did you end up using on the NDS? I'm working with my sram force crankset, and am currently using 0 spacers... just the two bearing covers and the wavy washer. I've read of people saying that there is no need for the spacers, and others saying they used one or two. the issue is, there is the smallest bit of play in the crank arms- an inboard/outboard kind of movement. its almost unnoticeable. Not sure if that's going to bite me in the ass later on or not... i'd rather do it right the first time. any input is appreciated |
Well I think I have the itch to sell my EVO and get another Caad10. Of every bike I've owned, the Caad is the only one I can say I loved. Guess well see tomorrow. If the EVO sells ima pickup a '12 Caad10 Raw that's leftover at my LBS

*Upgrades such as: Zipp wheels, S-Works Romin saddle, S-Works Classic Handlebar, Ritchey Superlogic seatpost, Campy EPS/Shimano Di2, etc. |
Can anyone tell me how they like their Black Inc with the Di2? My local show had a 56 and a 58 for $2800 but was able to get me a 54 that will be delivered this week.

lol. well I still have my SuperSix and I want another Caad. I am also looking at a SuperX or CaadX. So one of them has to go, and to me there's not a whole lot of difference between all three, other than weight. The roads where I live are all pretty well taken care of so even the Caad rides smooth. The EVO is too good of a bike for me. Its like if I were to own Ducati but could only ride it as fast as a moped. After spending LOTS of money on these bikes one thing I've learned after a point its all vanity to me. |

My bike with non Di2 was in the shop, and I kept thinking...no one really needs this. Then I got the bike back and put a fast 20 miles on it...I missed the Di2 a lot.
I knocked out 100 miles today on my EVO, the Di2 was so nice. The thought is crossing my mind to sell the other bike and buy a Black Caad. It'd be nice to have an all C'dale family. |

The latest update of my CAAD 9 and it's "big brother":)
After a couple months of riding the Evo I find it an outstanding bike. And every time I ride the CAAD I am amazed at just how good it is. |

Serious fitting question.
I currently ride a 54cm CAAD10. As I work my way on removing spacers towards a slammed stem, I find the reach is getting to feeling too far. Initially, I found the reach was to far with stock bars, until I purchased a new set of handlebars (C2 w/ 90mm reach to Deda Newton Shallow w/ 80mm reach). I'm reviewing the stack/reach on the CAAD10's geo charts, and there doesn't seem to be much difference in reach between the 52/54 (it's .1cm). Most shops tell me I shouldn't ride a 52cm, but I wonder if it would be my best bet. I included the photo of a stack/reach calculator that compares where I am now with where I was, in terms of spacers and stack/reach. The extra 2mms just seems to be stretching me out. Is it just something to get use to? I honestly feel more comfortable than I did with 1 spacer above the stem. I'm still running the stock stem, which I've measured several times and keep getting 105mm. That just doesn't seem right. With that measurement I'm not sure what stem size I should purchase should I choose to upgrade stems as well. I'm considering the S-Works Classic bend handlebar. At 192g for a 42cm, it would prove a solid lightweight handlebar. Considering I ride 40cm c-c, it should be even lighter. The point of me typing this handlebar choice out is because the S-Works reach is 1mm less. Considering I feel 2mm, would the 1mm be worth it? The weight difference from a Deda Newton Shallow should be worth it IMO as well. I'm a 150 pound rider. I sprint occasionally and climb quite a bit. I also understand I should pay for a bike fitting, but considering I only get to ride a few times every month (and I love it when I do get to ride), I can't justify a fitting considering my fitness/flexibility isn't super stable, compared with those able to ride consistently. |
So I have officially put in my application for the position of neophyte with The Cult of CAAD. I ordered a '13 CAAD10 4 RIVAL from my LBS this morning. White/Black Size 58 with standard crank. I got it for $1300 before tax, so I am pretty happy with the price. I can't wait for it to get here and start breaking it in :D
|
New CAAD 10 owner here. New 7900 shifters and front derailleur. I moved the RD and crank from previous bike before deciding on a BB30 specific crank. So far it's a blast. A new wheel set is on the want list.
