I just bought my 1st Cannondale last night. It's a used 1999 R500 (CAAD 2 frame), with excellent red paint, and a slightly dorky (but comfy) saddle. At the break of dawn this morning I took it out for a bit of a test ride. I did a circle in the parking lot last night when I bought too. I like the way it rides... it feels fast.
It isn't a special bike... other than being a CAAD... and maybe that's enough. I am selling my Trek 1400 not just to make room for it, but also because the R500 is replacing the 1400 as my go faster. The addition of a third front ring on the R500 should make it a decent climber if needed as well. Nice to be part of the cult. Almost forgot to post a pic. This is from the Craigslist ad: http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=477325 |
Just rode my new Caad12 last night and holy crap. I didn't really notice too much of how awesome this bike is during my warm up. But once you hit 24+ and start cornering is when the bike really excels. Holding speed is easy and cornering is solid. That's probably the word I would use. This bike feels so solid and alive I literally screamed in excitement because my last bike didn't give me the same confidence I now have with this one.

Nice looking bike, I've been told red is the fastest colour. |

That is actually a proven scientific fact... based on consensus of the cycling community. Of course there are always oddball red-deniers but they don't really count. There is no debate... the consensus is in. :) |
A family photo of sorts ... don't think they've all been washed and clean at the same time before. We love them like our kids, all equally. '05 Caad8 DuraAce, '06 Caad8 Athena11, '03 Caad5 105, '10 Caad9 Athena11.

Putting my deposit on a Caad12 Red22. Local shop quoted me $2500 couldn't resist
|
Are there any CAAD 10s out there with Campagnolo groupsets? Would like to see how it looks. Cannondale is not synonymous with Campy officially ever though is it.
|
Which model is this. The black and accent looks perfect than the latest versions if caad 10 and 12.

Just "completed" the building of my CAAD10 and have only a few rides on it. Next step: Fulcrum Racing Zero's.
Don't know the weight yet, but soon I'll update this post with it. http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=478491 |

You know you'd regret that in time, tighten your belt and save the pennies to have both.

Planning on getting the close down stock of the Caad 10 105 2015 in my LBS. It's around US $1750 now with some freebies and a Guru fit. Is the Guru fit really necessary? I could try to negotiate for lower price if I don't need it. Looking to join you guys soon!

Very nice. I am not so lucky where I live they are not giving such good deals. Cannondale only have one really main distributor where I live so naturally they milk the price.
|
I snagged a 2015 Caad 105 last week at REI for $1150.

My bike maybe is 1993 or 1997 i not really know. I have buy that bike from pawnshop. The rear spacing is 126mm. I put 130mm wheel i have spread little the dropouts with my hands for make the wheel fit. I had stop ride the bike for long time because the bottom bracket is got bad. i tried replace i could i take the bike in LBS and facing the threads. The bike have downtube shifters i not have deside yet keep the downtube shifters or to install one 9 speeds ultegra 6500 i have. And i use 130mm wheels with 9 speeds cassette because i not know if i can found wheel with 126mm hub and can take 9 speeds cassette.

You won't find a 126mm wheel to take a 9spd cassette. 7spd maximum.
There is a way to take a cog out of the cassette and make a 8-from-9 or 9-from-10 cassette that will then fit in a 126mm space. I recommend trying that. I had an 8-spd wheel in my 126mm Criterium, and going up a hill my derailleur crunched into my spokes. The derailleur was properly adjusted and didn't contact the spokes when cycling through gears on the flat, but going uphill it snagged. The derailleur broke off and took the (non-replaceable) hanger with it. I now ride that frame as a single speed and it's great for that purpose. And I went out soon after and bought myself a CAAD10 in the end-of-season sales, and love that too. |
Hi fellow CAAD owners. Can someone clarify whether the CAAD9 ever came with a traditional (English threaded, non-BB30) bottom bracket? And I mean a true traditional threaded BB, not the adapter that Cannondale or many cyclists loctited into their frames, post production. I was under the impression that the earlier models had a traditional threaded BB, and then they switched to BB30 after a year or two.
