question on stem length. caad9 4 here. so I had previously posted when this thread was created. my stock c2 stem was 90mm, it was way short, no leverage when climbing. I got at 120mm it works but after years now I feel like im stretched out, I guess im aging but I still can get in the aero profile except I think after 80+ miles I fatigue faster than I would if I was more upright. im fairly flexible at hamstring but my lower back doesn't seem to bend as much as others, so theres a slant up to middle of my back then it starts curving parallel. haha.
recently been feeling numbness in the perin...so im thinking it my age or something. anyways im thinking about shortening the stem a little but how little/much? from 90-120 is huge I think meeting in middle would work but I don't know any manuf that supplies 105mm so I need advice on going 110mm or 100mm, I think the 10mm is too close to to the short and long end...also i'll be going with the a 17 deg stem. the drop is quite significant I believe near 1" but the drops I have no problem, its the stretch that im starting to feel. if I think drop is too low later I can always add spacers. thanks in advance! |

Hi fellow Cult members, I recently joined the club and couldnt be happier with my choice of bike!
I have for the last few years been riding older italian steel bikes, after my last crash a few weeks ago I decided to retire my old and beloved Bianchi Mega Pro with a cracked frame. I then started looking for something to replace it with and randomly i ended up here, I have probably read most of the pages in this thread and the decision was easy. It was no other option then to go for a CAAD. Yesterday I got my CAAD delivered to the office, we have this project in work to get more people to cycle and get them heavily discounted and tax deductable. So my Caad 12 with 105 ended up costing less than 900 euro. Tested it yesterday, and its so fast! Anyways happy to be a part of the cult, will upload a picture later today. |

I used to have a CAAD 8 R700 which I loved and had to sell after a move. I found this bad boy for what I think is a great deal - and am quite excited to be back on a CAAD :)

Caad'10 red
3 Attachment(s)
Hi, guys!
As you may remember in summer I bought a CAAD'10 60cm frame in red color (race edition), around 1,5 month later (oh long wait, screw post and customs) I received parts and started assembly. I decided to go with Ultegra groupset (53/39 - 12/25 drivetrain for medium hilly setup) and durable custom built wheels on Mavic Open Pro rims (laced with Ultegra hubs and 2,0-1,8-2,0 DT Swiss spokes). My height is 182cm, weight 108kg and roads are not silky smooth. Well, what can I say, the ride is awesome - it is so fast, I can't believe it. The most admirable about it is the thing when you speed up and spin out, you upshift and continue spinning, then upshift, etc. only to realise you are somewhere between 2rd or 3th sproket and the view is passing by in blur. Wind and your own fatique are the only enemies - the bike will take you literally anywhere. It is just terrifying and breathtaking at the same time, I am swept away. At low speeds in high gear it springs forward like a bat out of hell - I absolutely love it. At first it felt pretty twitchy, but then I got used to it and it feels only alive now - very smooth and springy yet tight and solid. It is hard to describe, but I guess you already know what I'm talking about, right?))) In a few words - it's a very fast and versatile piece of engineering thought which has many faces - both friendly and agressive. Most important about this quality is that this bike will allow one to grow as a rider, whichever way he chooses. Unfortunately, I did not get much mileage due to small spine trauma (I pulled lower back in end of summer) and bad weather (rains in September and October). Still managed to take a bike to a fitter who spent around half a day with me, setting up the bike and shoes for me. Fitting is a must if you plan to put it to the pedal. So now it feels very comfortable even though I have some body/health features which make fitting tricky. The funny part is my steel commuter (orange Fuji) which was smooth to me before now feels as comfortable as an iron. And don't get me wrong, it is a fine bike which serves its purpose. Maybe I am in love? Or is it CAADdiction so well known here?)) Anyhow, just today I took my CAAD for a spin after nearly two months brake and also made a few pictures like I promised. I did not want to make your usual newbie kind of pics a la "here is my sofa and my cat, oh, here is the bike" or instant classics "here is my garage door/house wall and a bike" hence the wait))) So I did something I hope you'll like! First two picturs were made today and a last one was made before fit. Yeah, if you have any questions about build or whatever - please do not hesitate. |
my off season DIY project. This bike piloted me through 5 categories of racing over the past 4 seasons, so i treated myself to an 'upgrade' haha. Next season i should be riding a different steed for races after some sponsorship, but forever #aluminati #caad10

waiting on my pinstripes still but anyways....here it is. Same build , just different frame color. way way far from perfect, made a bunch of mistakes during the paint process, but it's ok. Rideable. Changes color a lot which is cool to me. 10 feet away this thing is pretty neat, but 10 inches away bleh
