I didn't do anything about it, but somehow the noise is mentally blocked now that I know what it is. Could also be the shifter cables where they run down the downtube, although I don't see that there'd be enough play for them to really tick against the frame.

I've held them together and I still get the sound

Depends on the rim. With mine once I knew what it was I didn't let it bother me any more. I upgraded the wheels shortly after that anyway.

Looks like my gf will have to wait for her new phone I promised her :D

I was going to switch to different cages. I went into a lbs and told them "I need 2 of your cruddiest cages" and walked out spending 10$ lol. But this rattle has only happened in the last 200miles or so (about 2 months as I finished up school. Had to snag the 4.0 again :D so riding took a hit :( )

Just to be clear, the bosses are the four threaded parts attached to the frame down tube and seat tube that the bottle cage screws go into.

Will be riding a CAAD soon. Its great to be on board on a very informative forum.

Is there a Synapse thread or can we put them in here? Just bought the Mrs. the new Disc Synapse.

one would assume since while the hi-mod DI2 version has been released, I don't think he'd be buying the mrs a $10k bike unless he's got one himself.

Got her the Synapse disc 105. Now she has a lighter, cooler bike than me :D

I'll second the motion for a Synapse thread, as I have a 6 Tiagra on the radar screen.

Maybe not a Synapse thread, but perhaps you can throw it in the "Show us your Cannondale" thread.

Well, dare I argue that......

If CAAD10 is the most comfortable CAAD ever made (SAVE system rear triangle) and the supersix even moreso with that hybrid-length head tube, does Cannondale even NEED a Synapse anymore???

h2oxtc 06-04-14 10:27 PM

The frame geometry is different between the two. They don't really compare IMO.

The ss and the caad10 are pretty much the same.

the sse has slight (and I mean slight...like half a degree difference between the tube angles) differences over the caad10.

The ss does no have a "hybrid" head tube because that would mean the caad10 has a hybrid head tube :p

Personally, i still don't think they need a caad8 AND a caad10...and as I sad before they will probably morph the two have have different "trims" of frame much like the allez vs. the allez E5 Smartweld.

Synapse: sporty alloy and carbon enduro bike
Caad10: alloy race bike
Super Six Evo: carbon race bike
super six: carbon race bike (discontinued)
caad8: "relaxed"/entry level "race" bike

The super six was discontinued because there is no need for 2 carbon race bikes, espically when the ss himod and the sse normal mod are feel the same on the road (and others have said the ss and the ss-hm felt the same as well). The only other over lap they have right now is with the caad8 and caad10 and like hell they are going to get rid of the caad10

Speaking of Caad8...

I might have to find this as a year end sale frameset and build a commuter :D

It's missing the orange highlights... I liked the Gulf colorway on the CAAD10 better.

Keeping it clean.

Hey guys. I have a 2013 CAAD10-4 black and white model. I hate the white because it looks dirty so fast. How do you guys keep you CAAD clean while riding lots? What is your cleaning process and schedule?

Can I spray degreaser on the cassette, derailleurs, chain and chain stay and water off without disassembling the bike after every rise or so?

macca33 06-06-14 07:01 AM

Just give it a light spray with water and clean with a damp cloth each ride. After a week, give it a wash with soapy water.

They aren't as fragile as some would have you believe - just don't spray pressurised water into BB, headset/forks, etc, etc.

cheers

I wouldn't mind doing the same thing! I think I deserve a good commuter since I commute to work now :) (and keep my CAAD10 for training).

It reminds me of the Belgium flag colors, which is prestigious in cycling. Plus, aqua blue is in my top two favorite colors, and red is in my third favorite color. Must get.

Just need a quick value assessment. An offer just popped up for a 2010 CAAD9 - 4 (SRAM RIVAL) , upgraded SRAM red brakes, upgraded Ksyrium SL Premium Superlight Rims. $1000. What do you guys think?
Hurry! .. Need to decide ASAP... (feels like I keep missing deals because I don't know values.. LoL)

You might want to take a look here: 2010 Cannondale CAAD9 4 - New and Used Bike Value

According to that, it looks like you need to ask yourself whether the brakes and wheels warrant paying a premium for the bike as BBB says it's only worth $790 in 'like new' condition.

Oh thanks! How good are those wheels? I still have to defer that back to you guys.... Is it worth it are those wheels and brakes warranting the $?

Hey guys...new here, new to cycling in general. I started a little over a month ago when I decided I was going to do a triathlon here in town. Called the bike shop and bought an 80s shogun road bike just to try out the sport...kinda fell in love with it and wanted something faster. With a lot of help from my brother, I ended up finding and buying a caad 9 with full campagnolo on craigslist. I'm hoping it shows up in the mail next week...

Good pick up mate - plenty still swear by the CAAD9, so enjoy it!

cheers
