how big is the difference between c3 and c1 stuff?
C3 stem = 148g c1 stem 128g c3 seatpost = 248 c1 seatpost 212g c3 bars = 325g = c1 bar = 244 Total savings = 148g (almost 1/3rd a LB) Granted this is not alot of weight but if one was looking to drop weight from something other then wheels I would probably remove that C3 bar first and replace it with something like Zipp SL Carbon Handlebar(170g) which alone is the same weight savings to all the C1 stuff above. |
I bought some angular contact BB bearings, hope I can solve the clicking.

It would appear so. The shop said they have this problem regularly with Cannondales and Treks. The plastic is just thin and tends to work itself loose and then the water and moisture can get in easily and wash the grease out. It's just a never ending cycle of re-lube and install. This will keep that from happening. When i described the problem they knew exactly what it was. When I suggested the locktite, they said this is what they do whenever they encounter this problem. That being said I'll still update you all around 500 miles

But after looking at some parts, I think I am going to go with 3T Rontundo pro bars, ARX II Stealth stem, and their IONIC 25setback seat post. Seems like the cost/weight ratio is spot on with those parts. and being alloy I don't mind buying them used :D Thanks! |

I've run 25mm GP4000s on my EVO - 25 is fine, 28 might be a problem.

I'm running 28mm tires on my CAAD 10 with no problem. These ones - LIT - Ultra-reflective Bike Tire | Crowd Supply

I discovered that it's tough to find matching pink colors, and that it doesn't get along with other accent colors. The ZX in the tire logo for example. Did you happen to notice the pink cable ferrules? A friend suggested it - I thought it was a nice touch.

I'm thinking about a used CAAD frame to build up. Do any of your experts know what year/model this is:
http://bikeforums.net/attachment.php...hmentid=377645 Are their certain generations of CAAD to avoid? Should I be overly concerned with getting an older used frame that it might fail? I'm hoping to upgrade my frame set for around $500 so newer CAAD 10 probably not going to be in my budget. Not racing. I ride a few times a week usually 20-30 minute spirited rides with some decent climbing. I'm looking at all options now. I'm generally a fan of older steel frames but the CAAD bikes are the one alum bike that I truly love aesthetically |
I got my mint CAAD10 frame for $600 from ebay. $640 with shipping. Be patient.

Cool. But is there any argument for any older CAAD frames or is the CAAD10 the be all end all best CAAD ever made? |
You won't get much negative talk about any CAAD in this thread. I am still riding my CAAD7 and it's a great bike. I don't know what model that is that you're looking at. It looks to be about a 2006 or so.
If you like it, buy it. There is a guy here selling a CAAD10 frame within your budget, but I'm not sure how much he would charge to ship accross the country. 2011 Cannondale CAAD 10 frameset |
Would you say that these two bikes are the same year/model (one is the picture I posted earlier):
Cannondale 56cm Optimo Frame Set Made in USA | eBay 56cm Cannondale Caad Aluminum Alloy Frame Frameset Frame Road Bike | eBay Mostly trying to find geo chart to see if I can fit them. I usually ride bike with a 54.5-55.5 top tube. The idea of waiting for CAAD10 is enticing and there is a 56 up for auction now that will probably end over $600 plus +55 shipping The thing is that right now I am mainly looking to upgrade the frame on a bikesdirect bike I got last year. Bike has full sram apex, ritchey components and decent wheels so I want to reuse it all and with the CAAD10 I will have to get a new FD and either get an adpater for the BB30 or get new BB and crank and whatever frame I get I'm trying to avoid going down a rabbit hole of spending |
