I just broke down and bought a 6700 crank instead of a Hollowgram SiSL2. What is the point in living?

Could probably buy 2 6700 cranks for the retail cost of the holllowgram

could get four new ultegra cranks for the $900..

THSdrummer 05-06-14 11:03 AM

The $900 for the SiSL2 crank just sounds ludicrous. Yes, they are sexy, but not that sexy. It's a shame how much it costs to run a Hollowgram power meter too.... I know cycling is expensive, but I can't even dream about it, it costs so much. /rant

I wouldn't mind having a SiSL, but I think I'd be more likely to get a new 6800 crank and Praxis BB convertor. Do 11 speed chainrings work with 10 speed drivetrains? I like to believe I'll upgrade to a Shimano 11 speed groupset sometime.

sadly that's not far from the truth of how the race ended. it was an insane day...HUGE pileup behind the top 7 riders shown. 20 went down. 4 to hospital.

Submit to Cannondale. They should use this shot for promotional purposes.

After a couple of rides and really looking for how the bike climbs I am officially hooked on CAAD bikes, The power transfer is better than many carbon bikes I have tried. And I paid less than 1k for my bike new. If only someone had told me in the beginning just to get a CAAD from the start I would have saved a lot of money and effort.

im 5'7 , inseam is probably 30 inches. my saddle height from bb to top of saddle (through seat tube) is 693mm. My reach from saddle tip next to center of bar (next to stem) is 530mm (15mm cover, 115mm -10 stem on it). It's a size 50cm caad10. I've never confirmed this, but i have long(ish) arms and short(ish torso). I think my legs are proportional to my height kinda...

Great photo and even better form. Do the others cry about losing to a guy on an aluminum bike?

seymour1910 05-07-14 01:13 PM

Gary,

You know even if they don't say it out loud, they're definately thinking it. Imagine the guy that walked into the LBS and turned up his nose at the CAAD, paid 3-4k for that EVO and all he can see is CAAD10 going down that seat tube as jdms mvp starts his attack

More CAAD please

cderalow 05-07-14 01:35 PM

of course the caad 10 v evo hi-mod is less than a pound in the frame...

a high spec'd caad 10 can get down to 15lbs without issue... (and given the sram setup on JDMS's, I'd guess his is in the 15-16lb range given the zipps)

seymour1910 05-07-14 07:10 PM

The '13 10-4 didn't come in the black/silver like the bike you posted. The options for the '13 10-4 were black/yellow and black/white.

Not to worry though, a 10-5 will be great and congrats on the new bike. Glad to have you. You will learn so much about the CAAD world in here.

not really w-w spec'd if I'm honest. Probably closer to 17 lbs as shown, I'm guessing. With fulcrum 0s at 1450 wheel set, it was 16.5lbs

i have some heavy parts by choice. ea90 alloy stem + easton TKO (track) 40cm bar + quarq with strong light TT rings + elite plastic cages , etc . Yea and zipp 101 are about 100g more than my old fulcrum 0s. But the caad10 serves it's purpose well. I figured bike weight really isn't going to win or lose me a race.

'race what you can replace' right? haha. Thanks for all the kind words everyone

haha i dunno about cry, but for that merckx TT i was in, i definitely 'felt' like i had to do a all the extra stuff just to get on par with venges , s5, and foils in the pack lol. So i was the one crying :(.... but it worked! ;)

Ok, I'm an official member of the CAAD cult. Here's my story.

I've been wanting a Cannondale bike for several years. It just never worked out, until today.
I test est rode the following and picked my bike. :D

Don't lie... You saw mine and had to have one :-P

but seriously congrats! I find my SRAM to shift smoother then the 105, but at the end of the day I think the shifting mechanism is stupid... The shimano on my wife's bike is much more intuitive. what shop was that?

e_guevara 05-08-14 06:16 AM

Congratulations and welcome to the cult! :thumb:

Does anyone know why Cannondale kept the Caad8 designation when they changed the frame design from the Optimo version and went to off-shore manufacturing?

Look at the 2010 catalog: http://media.cannondale.com/media/Ma...SA_English.pdf

That was the last year of the "Handmade in USA" CAAD9, and it looks like Cannondale was starting up another line of cheaper aluminum bikes and just went with "CAAD8" as showing it being one level below the CAAD9. They just stuck with the CAAD8 designation since then, although the bikes really don't have anything to do with the original CAAD8 (different geometry, etc).

Just FYI we demand pics!
And I wanna take a ride out there one of these days. That's a good selection!
