Essentially 2011 Red right?

With dashes of 2012 too. The crank sets are identical aside from graphics, as are the levers.

Condor637 02-02-13 10:41 PM

I will.

Kinda makes you wonder why you wouldn't just look for a good deal on '11 Red... assuming you are doing a custom build.

the old red is actually still lighter...

Thanks for the replies on gravel riding. I'll definitely be using some sort of tape to protect the down tube. I spoke with another rider who graduated from here last year and he told me he always rode the same route. That sounds pretty brutal to avoid gravel.

Bah Humbug 02-03-13 12:50 PM

What does CAAD stand for, anyway?

THSdrummer 02-03-13 02:38 PM

Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design.

Nagrom_ 02-03-13 02:47 PM

Did some finishing touches on mine. Added few more red splashes, and a cut steerer tube, and I'm calling it done.

^^Looks like a force crank but not those rings. Upgrades or is that how newer ones come?

In any case, nice looking bike.

Thanks

Yeah, those are stock rings. 2013 Force got Red's rings.

nagrom-

Ive never researched new cables so I have zero knowledge. If I were to look into the Yokozuna Reaction cables, do I have to get a certain kind? certain diameter? certain length? Certain amount? Does one pack come with enough for an entire bike?

Yoko is pretty straight forward with their options. One pack is enough for an entire bike, comes with two shift cables, two brake cables (one a little longer than the other), two pieces of brake housing, and 4 or 5 (i've gotten different numbers different times, doesn't matter, never have had to use it all) lengths of shift housing, and a handful, of ferrules step downs, and cable ends. Comes in white (as seen on Muffin Man's CAAD10 a couple pages back) and Smoke (as seen on mine), they come in two lengths, standard and TT. I guess time trial bikes require more housing or something, I've only ever used the standard length. It comes in shimano/SRAM or campy.

You're gonna want a standard set of Shimano/SRAM compatible stuff. Pick your color. A set can be had on ebay for uner 50 bucks shipped.

One thing to note, because I know you're a weight weenie too, the stuff isn't light, but I feel the performance far outweighs the weigh penalty.

On a side note, I think I'm going to try Alligator I-Links next time around.

bianchi10 02-03-13 03:58 PM

Hmmm good to know. When you say not weight wennie approved would you say its lighter than the standard bike shop cables? I'd like to try the alligator i-links, but as I said earlier I know nothing about cables. My cables work great now and will hopefully already achieve my sub 15lbs goal by installing my hollowgrams when they come in tomorrow, so I'm not gonna get any of them unless it will save me at least 50g or so.

Yoko is heavier than your standard bike shop set.

I-Links are very, very light.

Thanks! I figured the C and one of the As were that (or Alloy, or both), but couldn't get the D.

It isn't stainless steel it is a clear coated aluminum. Since they are the same frame you did get a good deal at that level of components, and what was said about the component s is correct according to the 2013 C'dale catalog. Nice bike.

I think I have found the perfect water bottle cages for any caad! They come in a few colors, but I like the black ones best. Oh did I mention they are 23/24 grams each and 12 bucks a cage??? They also allow you to pull your bottle out from any direction. So far in one month, 600 miles, and 2 races they are solid.

This seller is better than the others. I have bought 4 so far, the first cam bent and late, the other came super late. joeyangair2010, had a long expect by date but it came in before he projected and in good condition.
Here is how they look on my caad 10.

Are you using spacers under your cages?
I think it would look a little cleaner without the spacers

99Klein 02-03-13 07:46 PM

pretty sweet. Too bad I don't do eBay.

you are missing out on some great deals!

99Klein 02-03-13 08:19 PM

I use to believe that too. They and PayPal showed me the light.

Ohmannuel 02-03-13 10:02 PM

They are not spacers, you mount a locking nut under them so they will stay in place as you can rotate them however you want.

Please tell my how paypal showed you NOT to use ebay??? I get a lot from there.

+1

Got my brand new 2012 CAAD10 frame and Whisky 7 fork for 600+ shipping.
The fork alone can't be found for less than 350.

I use to purchase a lot on eBay. About 8 years ago they and PayPal helped a clever scanner steal a $300.00 camera lens from me. He had gotten a bunch of us all within two weeks. There feedback rules were being "revised "at the time and he took advantage of this. It's an insanely long story but the "offender " still has his account to this day. You can't file a police report in another state unless it's in person (Chicago anyway) and local authoritys can't (or don't want to) help. Attorney general involved ... BAD deal all around. I use neither any longer. You millage may very and wish you the best. I however do not need to do business with businesses like that.

Fail me all you want.
