If I understand him correctly, it's the same problem I have with my CAAD 9 : the cable pings against the top tube when you hit a bump.

The bike comes with 3 little o-rings, but they do not stay in place.

After a frustrating few weeks of trying to find a solution, I just decided to ignore it. Yes, there are tiny scratch marks in the paint but:
a). They're almost invisible under there, and
b). I had to remind myself that - as they say on the 41 - "It's a tool, not a jool".

I'm also on the verge of buying a bike rack for my car, and like you, I don't want to hang the bike on that cable. That amount of scratching is not acceptable.

I got a packet of those in my owner's manual.

That would be annoying and I hate random sounds on my bike. My 10 has 5 or 6 of the rubber o rings so they are close enough that the cable can't hit. I would either add more in the future or put some longer 3m clear protective film where it can make contact.

I have 6 little I rings that stop that from happening. Keep em in pairs seperated about 1/3 of the length apart.

I'm relatively new to cycling (first got serious about it last summer when I bought a Trek 7.1fx) and got this bike by recommendation from a friend who bikes & races a lot. I know clipless pedals are generally the most popular but this is now the only bike I have to commute with so I had to go with a "work shoe friendly" pedal set.:rolleyes:

This...the cables on my CAAD8 are starting to scuff the paint and do ping on bad ground but I cant be bothered worrying about it.

LBS ordered me some rubber rings as well as some matte black elite custom cages to finish the bike out. We'll see how that goes.

My 10 4 came with 6 little rings on the rear brake cable, haven't moved any and no noise whatsoever from the cable. Mine also came with the card of clear vinyl adhesive backed rub strips, put them where the housings could contact the head tube. I'm loving this bike more every day, my rides get more enjoyable each time.

Thought I'd post some new pics of my CAAD9. I've been wanting new bars so went with Zipp Service Course SL and matching stem. Also got the matching seat post. Looks pretty good if you ask me. Also just mounted up some 25mm GP4000s. The bike rides really nice with 23mm but wanted to try the 25mm.

Ignore the apparent tilt of the saddle. It's maybe 1 degree up - nearly flat. Just looks off from the angle I took the photo.

I just got done installing my Zipp stuff last night. It looks great and the bars fit me much better now. I went with the exact same stuff but I bought the Service Course CSL SSR bars. I really love the flat top and short reach. I love how everything is blacked out.

Is there actually a noticeable difference in swapping out the stem/bars, other than previous fit-related issues? I kind of want to get 3T bars/stem for my CAAD10, but not sure if it's worth it other than for the looks :P

The 3T Team (red/black carbon) bars are super expensive though...like $300! The Team stem appears to be aluminum, but also only $100. (CF version is $325?!)

Not really any huge benefit. The bars are lighter and stiffer. The stem is a little stiffer too. The stock stem was a similar weight. My main reason was fit. The bars 42 c-c and the reach is 4mm shorter. The new stem is also 10mm shorter at 100mm. The seatpost was almost 100g lighter though.

If you really like the 3T carbon bars PBK has them for $200 and they always have great coupons available. I bet you can get em for $170 shipped.

Yeah, I like the look and rides nice too. I was worried about going from a carbon seat post to aluminum as that seemed like a downgrade. However, I don't find it any worse than the oem post (which is carbon and not carbon wrapped) and might actually be better. Overall, I'm really impressed at how this bike rides. With nice wheels and good tires I find it actually more smooth than my carbon Synapse (which also has gp4000s but the stock aksium wheels).

I am usually not a fan of the BBQ, but i like this one. Good job.

Pictures of the 2013 flagship CAAD 10 on bikerumor: [link]. Looks pretty similar to 2012 but comes with Ultegra Di2, Ultegra tubeless wheels. Not a big fan of what looks like a gold Cannondale logo on the stealth black, and would rather have mech DA than Ultegra Di2. 3600ish MSRP.
