Great job

NWS Alpine- that looks great. I thought about doing the same thing to match the blue paint on my caad10 but I'm still contemplating on whether or not to sell the frameset for another build I have in mind.

Are your gorilla arms getting longer? 0.o

Haha, not quite. But the CAAD has a shorter top tube than my old bike, so I needed a little more reach. It's been an upgrade I was thinking about for a long time :P

I like the new paint job. Did they do away with the stripe on the back of the seat tube?

New here.. and I also picked up a 2013 CAAD yesterday.

I already said welcome in another thread but, I have to say again that is one nice looking bike. Get some clipless pedals instead of the clip and strap models they gave you. And get that shifting problem sorted out by them, soon.

I was thinking about putting a Hollogram/SRM powermeter on mine and am glad to see that it looks as good as I imagined it would.:thumb: Nice wheels, too. |

2013? Cool. Didn't know they were shipping yet. Nice color. What bottle cages are those?

Hello all,
I am a beginner just getting into cycling. I am a weight lifter and want to do some riding to get out of the gym a few days a week. I am not looking to get into racing as weight training takes most of my time. I mainly want to ride for fitness and recreation. My budget is not great right now to get a top end bike but all the info I have found on the CAAD has made me narrow down to this ... I like all the CAAD's but my budget pushes me to the CAAD8 7 Sora (the red one) http://www.cannondale.com/2012/bikes...8-7-sora-25382 If I got that route I can get the bike and have a little extra money for extras..tube, saddle bag, and things of that nature. All the used bikes in my area cost just as much as this one new, and in some cases more. I have a LBS about 15 minutes from me that has the bike in stock. I just want some guidance before I pull the trigger on impulse. Please advise, and don't worry I have a thick skin for those that like to give "tough love" |

I finished the cranks and they look awesome. After a bunch of wet sanding and clear coats they look really oem. It took a lot of work to outline the letters though. If I had to do it over I would have ordered some thin vinyl decals and just stripped the cranks completely. Then apply the decals and clear over that. I was just bored one day and decided to do it with stuff I had on hand. I am going to try the vinyl decal route for my shifters and I have the new Red levers now. If it doesn't look good then I will strip and paint them. |

My only (slight) regret is the loss of bulk, particularly in the upper body. I still go to gym about 2 to 3 times a week and focus on squats and core exercises. Don't let anyone on bikeforums kid you - squats DO help with cycling, particularly with hill climbing - though I've changed to a lower weight / higher reps regimen. The bike I bought was a CAAD9 5 (the 10 wasn't available yet). At the time, it was a toss-up between a CAAD8 and a CAAD9 - and I have not regretted my choice at all. The '9' is a far more serious bike, and in my limited experience the 105 groupset is way superior to the Sora. Point is: You won't regret getting a 9 or a 10, and if you ever get more serious about cycling, as I did, the 9 or 10 will take you to the next level - whereas in my opinion, the CAAD8 7 will not. |

Until recently, I was a big 'gym rat', heavily into lifting, and a BB program. (Are you active on the bb.com forum?)

Don't sell the CAAD! Keep it as a project bike. You already have the Noah. Throw on some new Di2 to keep you busy.

No, I am not on the BB.com forum. I have heard from a few others that once I get into cycling I will be on the road more than in the gym. I don't mind going down in size, but I don't want to get to small as I am not trying to get into racing. I would like the new CAAD10, but being realistic, I know I can't afford that bike so I will not waste someones time at a store talking about it. Would going for the CAAD8 5 105 a lot better or a slight step?

http://www.cannondale.com/2012/bikes...d8-5-105-19853 Would you consider a used CAAD9? Point is : As a starter bike, the CAAD8 isn't bad, but I'd caution you to try to predict your long-term cycling goals. ** f you're looking to do short (say 30-or-so miles) quick rides, the CAAD9 or 10 may be better for you, because of the geometry. ** If you're looking to do longer, slower rides, centuries and so on, then the CAAD8's geometry would be preferable. I.e. the bikes are aimed at different styles of riding. Don't misunderstand me, though. If $$ are tight and you really want a new bike - the CAAD8 is still a damn-fine bike!
