OK, you can't just throw up a picture like that on here without giving us some of the details. What group set, crankset, wheels are obvious, what seat, etc. what all have you done to this machine!???! It's beautiful!!!!

Okay, here's the final picture. The ENVE SES 3.4s were a loaner from my LBS.

http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8443/7...f3eab56e_b.jpg

The bike was built from a naked frame. Some of the handpicked parts:
Zipp 303 Firecrest tubulars (Falcon Grey), Tune DC14 skewers
Dura Ace 7900 shifters, FD, RD
THM Clavicula cranks, Stronglight CT2 chainrings
KCNC CB1 brakeset (have KCNC C7s on the way)
3T Ergonova LTD handlebars/ARX Pro stem (LTD stem is coming to replace it)
Tune Komm-Vor+ saddle
Schmolke SL seatpost
Speedplay Ti pedals

All together I put $5,200 in the project (not bad considering that's including the wheelset and all accessories.) As it stands, it weighs 6.2kg and will be even lighter after a few more changes. :innocent:

It is a very confusing bike......most people build the CAAD10 to be crit bikes, but you tried making it a WW bike.....odd.

The wife procured a 2013 EVO with RED as a wedding gift. Can I still be in the Cult of CAAD if my CAAD9 is playing second fiddle to this lovely machine? I hope so.

And no, there will be no flipping and/or slamming of any sort unless it results in more power and/or comfort.

Thank you. I am a very, very lucky man. And here I was trying to figure out a way to justify to her the "need" for a second bike...

I would get married just to get one of those

Very nice! Did Blacksmith also set you up with the frame? I'm also in Toronto.

It's the first time I've considered flipping my USA CAAD9 for a 10 (in black)

Bad idea. Buy a 10 if you want but I wouldn't sell the 9.

ricohman 09-10-12 07:03 PM

What is the sizing like on these bikes? I sat on a 54 cm CAAD10 5 today and found the reach a bit long. I'm 5'9" with a freakish 32.5 inch inseam so the bike feels low between my legs.
Would I be better off with a 52 or the 54 with a shorter stem? I notice there is little difference between the two for top tube length.

I've raised this issue before in this thread, but here we go again: Lose the spacers. I'm talking about the ones up top. The technical guidance on the CF steerer tube forks is fairly specific, and you'll have voided your warranty with that ridiculous pillar above your stem.

Also, you may be exceeding the max allowed under your stem as well. Instead of a -17 degree stem, try a -6 or -7 so you can drop your stem, achieve the same reach dimensions, and lose some of those spacers.

Ok weight weenies....
I am looking at at 54cm CAAD10 5. Fits well and will fit really well with a tad shorter stem.
The bike weighs 19.24 lbs on the shops scale. I am hoping that some decent wheels could lighten this bike by at least 1lb. Or am I being to optimistic?
With a better crank I could be on a 17lb bike. This bike is on sale for $1300 Canadian. Decent deal?

My caad10 has super heavy wheels (Campy khamsin 1941g w/o cassette) and it's still at 17.02lbs. it wont take much to get a caad10 down to 17 IMO. Caad10 frame/fork
Campagnolo Khamsin Wheelset
Campagnolo Centaur groupset
Campagnolo Rec FD
uno Stem
KCNC Ultralight seatpost
DIXI ti skewers
gp4000s tires
Michelin AirComp latex tubes
Fizik Antares saddle
Williams Maxim bars

Price seems fair. You could get it down closer to under 18lbs with some new light wheels and a Sram force crankset (SISL would be best). New seatpost/seat could drop some more weight as both are relatively heavy and somewhat cheap to replace.

Sounds like a good deal. Wheels will be the most bang for your buck in terms of grams per dollar and performance. My Caad 10 was built from the frame up and isn't exactly exotic with Force/Rival group, Ritchey aluminum cockpit and Hed C2/White Industries wheels, Fizik Antares carbon rail saddle and it's around 16.5 lbs.

ricohman 09-11-12 03:23 PM

This is good to hear. I was going to buy the 3 but all they have is a black 5 on sale. I think the $1200 saved will buy me a set of Soul 2.0 or 3.0 and maybe that crank. I can live with the cheapo brakes for now but the saddle and seat post will be swapped.

First thing that I changed was the brakes even before I took it home - had the shop do it. Swapped to Ultegra but not for weight savings but because I have more faith in the stopping power of Ultegra over Tektro. Next was the wheels to elites and then the seat to the Regal.

Just order a Slam That Stem cover.. curious if anyone has had any issues with them?? Probably should've asked before I bought it, but oh well. Thanks for any help from anyone.

I'll probably keep at least one spacer on top and one below in the begging. Any idea why Cannondale add such a massive Crane Creek top covers and spacers???

Pinkbullet3 09-11-12 06:47 PM

To give the customer as much adjustment room as possible. People would feel really set-back if the bikes came slammed, lol

iLuveketchup 09-11-12 08:27 PM

My humble CAAD10. She's all stock for now.

hailandkill & r1000, you are both correct. The photo was taken in Palisades Interstate Park.
