Sweet rides Long Beach

You have a few bikes in the stable but any reason for two CAAD10s? Travel bike?

Pinkbullet3 11-07-12 10:40 PM

Two CAADs?! Bit excessive, in my opinion

Crash716 11-07-12 10:43 PM

Sorry to tell you guys that I won't be in the Cult of Caad much longer, on friday the new baby shows up, and the Caad10 must go.

At least post a pic before it's out of your possession!

No offense to the cult, but if somebody would trade me a new BH G6 for my CAAD9, I'd do it... :)

You can never have too many CAADs! I was just curious as I might have gone with a CAADX for some more options if you are into some cross etc. I can see having 2 if one is a travel bike or second home bike etc.

Same here. It's a really nice frame. There aren't many carbon frames I would give up my CAAD for but that is one of them.

I have the option of a bike to work scheme and been looking at bikes (again) now was looking around and stumbeled across the CAAD 8 2013 with 105 running gear. I did want MBT as i have 2 roadies already but not sure i can pass by this bike.

What ya think?

Looks great! What are the key differences between the CAAD10 frame/fork and the CAAD8?

There is not a lot between them the CAAD8 is 6061 alloy while the CAAD10 is smartformed 6069?
the forks are both full Carbon fibre. Main differences is down to the cassette on the 8 is tiagra the chain is a kmc. The 10 seems to have a fuller 105 spec and about £350 more expensive.

The 8 according to a few sites is a slightly lighter bike around the 9kg mark.

Think I may have developed a CAAD bug and being shouted at by the misses in due course.

CAAD10 is lighter and same geometry as the Evo and similar tube shape. The CAAD8 has a slightly different geometry with a longer head tube and shorter top tube.

Also the CAAD8 fork is not all carbon. It has carbon blades but alloy steerer.

I stand corrected, still love it

milkbaby 11-09-12 10:33 AM

The reincarnated CAAD8 is not the same geometry as the original CAAD8.

The current CAAD8 is different geometry from the CAAD10 and there appears to be much more tube shape manipulation on the CAAD10 frame versus the CAAD8 (take a look yourself). CAAD10 comes with tapered steerer which should make for a much stiffer front end (some people can tell the difference, not me on the routes that I ride tho). CAAD8 also comes with much heavier fork (alu steerer) and much heavier wheels.

No, one's not a travel bike. I had some bike money and was considering the CAAD10. I had previously had a CAAD7 but sold it and kind-of regretted letting it go. I got the white CAAD10 and really liked it. Still had some bike money left and decided to get the Silver and Black. Even with that I spent half of what some of us spend on one bike. No other bike out there caught my interest like the 10.

AND, I like them both. Later I may set them up differently but for now I want them exactly the same.

What would be the current year (2013, maybe 2012) closest replacement to a CAAD7, both in quality and ride? I'm just talking about the frame only. I thought it would be the CAAD8, but based on some of the comments on here, it sounds like the quality has changed on the CAAD8 since manufacturing has moved overseas?? Should I be looking at the CAAD10?

You are going to want the CAAD10 frameset. The CAAD8 is different like mentioned. The 10 is the continuation of the frames this thread is based on.
