A CAAD 10 in Ventoux Country
6 Attachment(s)
Hi here's My Caad 10 from the land of the Ventoux it rides even better than my Bianchi Luna, I've got two mates one has a SuperSix and the other a Synapse EVO all 54cm and the same white and red colours so we can interchange I'm 10 years older than the other two but the CAAD10 out performs both, the Synapse I would'nt recommend for anybody over 80kg. The only thing I've changed so far is are the Askium wheels with Aksion tyres ( which really are not to be recommended ) to Kysrium Elite and Hutchinson tyres, the brake hoods to red and the saddle to a Super Leggera Aspide triming the all up weight down to 7,1kg. I've already ridden up the Ventoux and the twin sister of the Ventoux the Signale de Lurs in faster times than 10 years ago. Waiting for a pair of WIZI carbon wheels shod with Vittoria tubs. If you are tempted to buy one all I can say is don't hesistate its better than the bulk of the mid range carbons, extremely responsive and just flies away once you get above 30km/h. Initially I had to get used to the fact that its better to windmill rather than push a high gear, I'm not sure why but the frame does'nt budge at all under load.
Previous bikes CAAD 400, CAAD 5 Saeco Replica, Bianchi Luna, Veneto Veloce, Allins 531 |

88 if I have to go metric, but modern road bikes, if they even list a limit, are usually fine well above 100kg.

Very nice. You upgraded the wheels but kept the Luganos. How do they ride? I upgraded the wheels but dumped the tires mostly based on things I read about them.

The lugano's are horrible. Very high rolling resistance, and will flat on almost anything(pebble flatted mine). Made a world of difference for me just going to a gatorskin.

You are going to want the CAAD10 frameset. The CAAD8 is different like mentioned. The 10 is the continuation of the frames this thread is based on.
I have been riding my CAAD8 for 6 months, 1200+ miles, done two century rides and two duathalons. Awesome bike for the price.:D I think the CAAD10 is a more harsh ride. |
What wheels are those?

I turned 5k miles on my Caad10 this weekend, since getting it in January.
Still totally love this bike, I tell everyone that in the 30+ years I've been riding and racing, no bike has ever inspired more confidence and solid handling than this one. Maybe it's just a lucky match of my body geometry and riding style to the dimensions of the bike, but, anyway, I endorse it to everyone. 50+ race starts this year, 2 wins, lots of placings using the exact setup you see here. http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8198/8...d7371b7101.jpg http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8480/8...6373f8e5_c.jpg |
Dude, thank you for the pic! I bought a CAAD10 with the same paint (the 105 version) in March and I wanted to put white cable on it but wasn't sure...I am going to do it next time I put on new cables.

Sure am. Over the summer a lot of my evening rides were 20-25 mile loops going out the North fork, then cutting south around Oak Openings to pick up the South fork for the return. How about you?

Great endorsement. What's that neon thing above the water bottle? To hold up the frame pump?
And yes, this is how I started many many races this year. Sometimes I remember to pull all the stuff off before the race but mostly I just leave it on there. |
