I just picked up my new CAAD 10. I had the bar tape changed to Cannondale green tape, and bought Ultegra wheels. I wanted to eventually change over to tubeless tires, which was one of my reasons for choosing this wheel set. Now I'll research which tubeless tires to get. Over the winter, I'll ride on Continental Gatorskins, hopefully they will be in this week. |

New but already broken:( So I started looking for a new road bike back in the spring for a 50th b-day present. Last new road bike purchase was a Centurion Ironman back in 1987. Thought I needed a comfort bike as I'm getting on in years and not very flexible so I test rode all the usual suspects over the summer(Roubaix,Synapse,Domane, Defy etc.) None really wowed me and some handled pretty sluggish. Most of my rides are short and fast(for me...)so I tried the racier frames and just loved the CAAD far and away more than any of the others. No idea how it happened but after three weeks and eight rides I have a big dent/crease on the drive side chainstay. Maybe I bought a lemon as my research led me to believe these frames are pretty robust. Anyway the bike still looks pretty. Jan S |

Jan S http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8210/8...98c9880b4e.jpg I know when I crashed out of a race a couple of years ago as I was inspecting my bike my heart skipped a beat when I saw that as well. If it's not in that area, seemingly minor impacts have been shown to do some serious damage to aluminum frames as well. With thin walls and light weights, that's the price we have to pay. |
I'ts definitely damaged.
I posted about it here: http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread...nted-Chainstay Thanks, Jan |

In all its uncut steerer glory. Bought in January of 2012. 25c GP 4000s, lol

Apologies for the instagram filter, but rode it 90 miles today. Smooth as butter and fast as hell.

Anyone know what kind of shifting cable adjusters come on the CAAD10? My old CAAD used those inline barrel adjusters, and I absolutely hated them - they never worked properly. It seems the constraints are even worse on the new bikes, because the shifter cables are wrapped under the bar tape. I saw one custom pic of inline adjusters installed just after the cables exit the bar tape, but it looks cramped and difficult to access - check out the pic here http://i148.photobucket.com/albums/s...o/IMG_1987.jpg. And, as mentioned, I'd prefer to steer away from the inline version - but I don't see how any other type would work.

That is the standard setup on the CAAD10.

Do those come with the frame?
|
I would guess no. I picked up my bike from a LBS (as you can tell by its stock parts). Although, keep us updated on your build. Just curious, what made you go for a new frame? And what are you going to do about your old frame?

Didn't like the feel of plastic, but didn't want steel, so I went high end aluminum. |
When you say "New SRAM Force," are we talking actually new? Why not the grouppo off the old bike?
|
Man, I kind of regret getting Fizik Microtex bartape. **** is not forgiving at all, hands get sore pretty damn quick now, even w/ gel-padded gloves.

Those are Jagwire mini adjusters. ~ $10-15 on eBay. They also make the bullet ones with the thumb wheel. They look cool but weigh twice as much. If that matters to you.
