All kidding aside, that's a nice looking bike. Love that brushed aluminum frame. Getting a caadx in the same.

EDIT: out of curiosity, why do some caads come with the disk and reflectors and others not. Mine had none of that when I bought it off the floor. Do some shops just assume it's going to come off anyway? Seems like a potential liability issue if they take it off before you even see it.

Never did figure that out. The dork disc doesn't really bother me, and with the lunatic drivers in CT, reflectors are not a bad idea. Besides, at 230 Im not exactly concerned about lightweight accessories. Next couple weeks will be figuring out right fit - shop did a good job, but you need to get some time on it to dial it in properly.

The "frame and chassis" have been fixed, now it is time to work on the engine!

Have to give props to Outdoor Sports Center in Wilton, CT for the purchase. They really spent the time, weren't pushy, and really knew their stuff.

New bars (3T Ergonova Pro) and bartape (Fizik Microtex) on my CAAD10.

This is where it is at. I love the aesthetics, value, and ride of bikes from this era. I would build mine with record or chorus 10 but this still gets a hot.

Wow, a CA[A]D3! Classic. A time when Cannondale were not yet that keen on putting the "CAAD" designation on most of their frames.

Kudos! :thumb:

P.S. As stated in the other tread, we'd like to see better pics please.

I'm saving up for either Chorus or Force its a tough decision but i still have time to decide.

So after three mild 10-15 mile rides, here are some impressions:

- very smooth ride, was not expecting that at all. Using 110 on the stock Schwalbe tires
- getting used to the SRAM double taps will take time, especially when going between big and little front ring. I got cross chained a few times, purely operator error
- excellent tracking...when you are paying attention. It reminds of of an Empacher single scull - beautiful ride but stay focused! The crap I got away with on an MTB and hybrid will not cut it
- HOLY CRAP IS THIS THING FAST! Every pedal stroke moves me forward and lunges keeping up with car traffic was much easier
- need to take different approach to hills, especially with the multiple hand positions, and much easier to stand

My first road bike in 20 years, so I have a lot to learn!

In summary, from the immortal words of Alex Karras (RIP big man)...."Awww...Mongo like Sherriff Bart"

;-)

freedomrider1 10-27-12 06:48 AM

"sheriff bart the only one to beat Mongo" rip Alex.

kunfuzion,
Welcome to BF and the 41, I have a '12 CAAD 10/4 and love it. I put the stem into the down (flipped) position, dropped it 15mm in spacers and set the tilt of the stock bars to fit and to suit my hand position. No problems after this set of changes. My only additions are a Cannondale wireless computer. CF bottle cages and Gatorskin tyres when the Schwalbes got rock cut. Hope you enjoy yours as much as I do mine. Best N+1 I ever did.

Thanks, I'm loving it more after each ride. It came with the stem dropped however all the spacers are still there. I'll be progressively lowering the entire stem as I get more used to the bike. The stock bar has been adjusted to be level but it still bugs a bit. I've thrown a Garmin 200 and some Speedplay pedals which should make me content until I can improve my own abilities.
Courtesy bike pic... Nothing special but I couldn't stand getting a plain black bike (no offense to all the bbq owners).

Love this color scheme!

Adrian, that is a bbeautiful Cannondale you got! What tires are you using?

Adrian_ 10-28-12 09:07 AM

They are Panaracer Pasela TG's from my previous build like all the other parts. I like the flat protection but I might try something a little more racey when they wear out.

freedomrider1 10-28-12 03:21 PM

Anyone here just out bid me on ebay for a beautiful red and white Caad?(

Didn't get a single response in the Hot or Not thread so I guess it's that bad. But I changed the bar tape to green and apart from my hideous yet comfortable saddle, I love it. So here's my lovely (to me) CAAD8 6

Edit: Actually did get a response so never mind on that one

VA_Esquire 10-29-12 06:29 AM

I like it except a few things. The saddle and the amount of spacers. Other than that, I dig it.

What wheels are those?

No, not bad at all. Over there you need to have garish wheels and a slammed stem or it's "not hot" but in my case it would be "not comfortable". I've got more basic wheels but they didn't like mine either if that's any consolation.
