It's fine for now but once you settle on your position you should cut the steerer tube so there are no spacers above the stem. The way cannondale uses an expansion plug you want it to be low enough to support both the stem bolts (as they instruct in the manual). If you don't already get a 5nm torque key as it's great for stems and seatpost adjustments.

And true as well, so as not to confuse DevinL with the talk about Easton forks. C'dale specifies steerer tube cutting as NWS Alpine has stated.

So one would just walk into their LBS and ask, "Can you cut my steerer tube?" What are the costs, procedures, and things that the bike owner should look out for to make sure the job is done correctly? I'm asking here first because my LBS is not the LBS I bought my CAAD10 from.

:o

Thanks for the info. Would you consider this "un-safe"? Also, should I thread the expansion plug into the cap more now? So that it fits in between the stem bolts better? I'm assuming that it is now more near the bottom bolt area rather than between them.

Found this tunnel on a ride today! Stoked because it was a solid 95+ out.

Ditch those tires, they clash so bad...

jesspal 09-01-12 12:21 PM

Yeah the bike looks gorgeous, the tires not so much. What tires did it come with?

Oh, that poor bike. A CAAD9 deserves a better fate than that...

I think that is a good deal for a frameset (+fork and headset)... They seem to go for at least $500-600 on ebay.

Dislike non-matching tires... Unfortunately I have unmatched tires on my CAAD9 too! :D

It came with Schwalabe Lugano's on a Shimano RS10 wheel.

this bike has A LOT of HOT potential!!! I dislike the hoods, but that a personal thing. it does set it apart from all other blk/white cadd10's, that's for sure. I think the angle you took the picture at makes the bars look odd. I'd love to see this bike in a photo taken level with the bars.

taimur 09-03-12 02:29 AM

Fellow cultists, i am on the market for a new/slightly used CAAD10.
Can some one point me to a site which could be offering a good deal, preferably to deliver internationally.

thanks.

4 months of work went into this bike, collecting and waiting for parts. The result came out pretty good in the end, but there are just a few minor tweaks to be made.

I hate to parrot back Cannondale's marketing schtick- but the CAAD10 is really as good a bike as many high-priced carbon frames out there. I figured it was a better idea to spend the money on getting some of the best parts and an amazing wheelset. The CAAD10 so far has proved itself worthy of all these high-end parts, and I would do it again.
