The "CAAD8" that Cannondale sells now has almost nothing in common with that older CAAD8, save for the name. 531Aussie's CAAD8 is almost indistinguishable from the CAAD9 if it wasn't labelled.
The current "CAAD8" is just a run-of-the-mill entry-level Al frame. I was actually kind of offended when Cannondale decided to even call it that, since it's certainly not "Advanced" (the second A in CAAD), and the older CAAD8 was actually a pro-tour frame. |
Thoughts on the CAADX?
Any thoughts on the CaadX? Thinking of getting one as an around-town commuter, grocery getter and light touring. Not really into the cyclocross thing but the bike seems like a nice all-rounder. What I don't like is the crappy brakes. Cantis should stop a bike well but these seem slightly better than just costing. Better pads or is there a different brake design that might work better for this type of bike?

^ Nice looking bike. Which model/year? I don't recall seeing one with the dark grey accents on the stays and fork.

Trying to join the cult and get rid of my 2011 Allez frameset......The CAAD10 frameset is 450g LIGHTER than the Allez and that isn't including the extra 200g I would lose by switching from a Rival GXP crankset to a BB30 Force crankset.....

Yeah I called all over Utah trying to find a shop with a 2012 model and size 54 - glad I found one. Something about the giant 10 on the top tube just doesn't sit well with me. Enjoy your 10-3! What color did you choose?

@ Pharm... White black. Not a big fan of the raw that comes on the 5 and the 3.

So after lusting after these every day, I'm looking to join the cult! Would anyone have or know someone selling a caad10 in a 54? Preferably frame only..

Very nice '10 Impreza-aL, looks like a wheel upgrade for you. What length is the stem you are using? Pretty long reach when looking at your frame height. If it works for you ride her well.
|
I love the Zipp 101s! I was so close to ordering a custom set built with the new White Industries T11 hubs but decided to use the Kinlin XC-279 instead. It's just an everyday wheel for me and I can save the $500 extra I would have paid to go towards for nice deep race wheels.

What would you upgrade first - the crank or wheels? I have heard the rs10 wheels may not last very long - thinking of just using these as my winter trainer wheels. I'm 165 lbs.

While I don't think the FSA rings shift as well as Shimano, I wouldn't upgrade for the sake of upgrading personally. Especially over the winter and early spring you're better off riding with the crappy conditions coming up (sand, salt, water, etc) and then replacing something next spring rather than buying something new just for the sake of it and getting it mucked up over the winter. Nothing on that bike is going to hold you up performance wise. Just my $.02 Gorgeous looking bike by the way. I love the grey accents. |
