The only reason I ask is because cyclists (or at least all the ones that I've met) don't call them buckets, lol! So before I asked, I didn't even know what you were talking about (I thought I'd play along), but thanks for clarifying (if you walk into a bike shop, I don't think they'd know what a bucket is, so say helmet).

I have a Bell Array in black. Just go to your LBS and try whichever one you think looks good. Whether you want to buy at the LBS or online is up to you; it's your money (I hope).

Stock seat post and fork, would love a recommendation on a fork swap.
Not slammed yet but I have shifted 3 spacers above stem.

Best deal would be an Easton EC90 SL or Ritchey WCS from eBay. Preferably an auction. Enves are all the rage and they do look nice. But you pay a premium for that popularity.

@Tameggo So you're the motherlover who outbid me! It looks like a fine ride, enjoy it!

Tameggo 06-19-12 05:45 AM

@pinkbullet3 Helmet...got it! lol. I'll check around the local LBS and see what is available. and yes totally my money

@DS113 Sry bud, lol that's crazy though. I had to win it. If I lost, I was going to buy new cause I was fed up with CraigsList dead ends & such. My max was $1301 and I put the bid in on the last 10 seconds.

Thanks, they both seem like reasonably priced options. I like the ENVE stuff but it is so expensive. I would rather save a bit and buy a hi-mod frame and for 2k then spend that money on a fork.

So now that we have some pics of the new hollowgrams who will be upgrading? I like the lower end SI model. The SISL2 are stupid light at 484g total!

Well, if you dont like it, send it my way for proper disposal. ;)

Tameggo 06-19-12 06:27 PM

@airstevo & @FPSDavid That red on white looks awesome, enjoy the rides!

airstevo 06-19-12 09:42 PM

To be honest I wasnt sure about it, I was loving the matte black, but now that I have the white I'm glad I went that way. I haven't seen that many in this color. My LBS has only carried the black.

my '11 Caad 10 5 has developed a creaking sound around the cranks and bottom bracket area...the bike only has around 1000 miles on it...I hear the creaking when I stand up to pedal on the bike, but no sound when I'm seated...what could the problem be? I haven't crashed, wrecked, or laid it down...somebody please help

NWS Alpine 06-19-12 10:16 PM

Very common on a lot of road bikes. Even more so on BB30 bikes. Start with removing your pedals and greasing the threads and install to torque specs. Next would be to grease crank spindle. Then you can check your headset as this often creates a clicking sound that sounds like it's coming from the bb. Grease the bearings where they touch the frame.

Your BB not might even be the problem. tighten your seat post and your seat. That happened to me and i greased my BB and the creaking was still there. so i tightened everything that could get loose and it was my seat. go figure.

Question for the gurus, coming from someone soon to join the fold.

Am I better off getting the 10-5 and upgrading the wheels or the 10-3 and leaving it stock? This will be my first road bike, but I'm already an avid cyclist and I expect to progress quickly. Opinions are appreciated!

(side note, anyone from Canada know if the salespeople at sporting life are commissioned? They denied it but I definitely got the impression..)

I'm pretty sure they're not commissioned, if you're referring to the shop on Yonge street they give off that vibe because some of them actually know what they're talking about. There's one particular guy (Young Asian dude) who will go on for hours about frames.

What's the price difference on the 10-5 to the 10-3? That would help us.

PS: I would be careful buying road shoes/helmet from that shop, their accessories are overpriced sometimes.

Go to the Cannondale home page and select the support option. There are multiple .pdf files and the BB30 fix is one of the files. They upfront say to let a mechanic that is familiar with BB30 to do this if you are not competent to do the work.

Here is the link to the Accessories section where the Canada, US, UK .pdf file is located
http://www.cannondale.com/manual_accessories/ Select the BB30 choice form the list and the .pdf file comes up. Best of luck.

Airstevo, that 10 3 is beautiful, the whit with red accents looks sharp. Enjoy your ride.

LBS was wrong, but today is the day according to Fedex's tracking (which they didn't look at until I called Thursday afternoon wondering why they didn't call me).

Actually had this same problem with mine. Mines a CAAD8 6 though. 2nd right out I started hearing it so I took it to the LBS where I bought it and told me the seat post wasn't tight. Quiet as can be now

Out with the old:

In with the new:

New one comes in @ 17.6lbs with pedals and cages.

Thinking I should have gotten these cages instead now...since the bike's red is way darker than the cages' red.

jesspal 06-25-12 07:32 PM

Looks good, change the cages. They are not so expensive, but the red doesn't look bad at all.

I saw a new CAAD10 frame with Whiskey carbon fork on eBay for a BIN price of $650. In my size. And in the color i like - carbon black. I hesitated. Someone else bought it. I'm hating myself. That is all.

jesspal 06-25-12 08:05 PM

My LBS was trying to sell me a Whiskey fork for my CAAD. I never heard of them, fairly cheap at $300. I may take a second look.

boxerboxer 06-25-12 08:36 PM

Was hoping to be able to afford a 10-5 by Christmas. Sneaky wife found me a brand new 2011 10-1 (in murder black) for our anniversary!!http://i.imgur.com/zRl23.jpg
